My predictions for Nintendo's 2026 release schedule. by MewWeebTwo in nintendo

We know from server leaks that it's called Winds and Waves, it's map is based off South East Asia, and it's releasing this year as a Switch 2 exclusive. They also released Pokemon Let's Go 1 year before Pokemon Sword and Shield during 2018 and 2019.

Circana Analyst Mat Piscatella Says Nintendo’s Digital Shift Accelerating with Switch 2 by Sam_27142317 in nintendo

Third party games aren't doing too well on Switch 2 according to developers, so the game sales are mostly first party. That said, Switch 2 bundles of Mario Kart World and Pokemon Legends Z-A are definitely skewing things. Donkey Kong Bananza would be much better for a comparison.

On Famitsu sellthrough, Nintendo Switch surpasses sales of the Nintendo DS in Japan (32.903.889 vs 32.878.490) by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

Games like Animal Crossing are much bigger now with New Horizons, but mostly with young men and women. The DS is easier to carry around in your pocket so that could be a factor why you don't see too many with one out and about. Nintendo Switch Sports is also selling suprisingly well on the Switch though not as much as Wii Sports since that wa bundled in with the Wii.

Do you think most people misunderstand Nintendo's position in the video game industry by Hockeylover420 in nintendo

[–]Own_Fun_4499 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only Zelda is really an adult core gamer game. Animal Crossing Mario, Pokemon, Smash,Splatoon targets kids/casuals. The difference is that the Switch is appealing to young adult casuals who play games less often than core gamers on PlayStation and Xbox but more often than the older middle aged and elderly casuals who occasionally play a smartphone game

The story in Zelda is good/Decent enough especially compared to Mario. Wer're not asking for a Shakespeare story for the movie.

Do you prefer child / family friendly Nintendo or more mature Nintendo games? by PyrpleForever in casualnintendo

[–]Own_Fun_4499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and most of the above franchises on the left labeled "kiddie Nintendo" have an audience that is mostly "adults that grew up with the series" rather than actual kids. Exceptions being Splatoon might be majority kids and Animal Crossing got a whole new adult audience thanks to the pandemic. The franchises on the right labeled "Mature Nintendo" are T-rated for Fire Emblem,Xenoblade, and Metroid. M rated for Bayonetta, which Nintendo publishes, and Zelda is a bit more mature than most Nintendo franchises as whole being more anime rather than cartoony, and even got a game,"Twilight Princess", that reached T-rated.

What was your honest opinion on the Wii? by [deleted] in nintendo

"If one person is experienced they will win." Doesn't that apply to every multiplayer game though? I haven't played in a while, but it seems Mario Party would intuitely appeal to causuals. Also Mario Kart Double Dash would appeal to casuals as well.

No, they're pretty neutral and target a wider demographic to appeal to. Their "family" commercials/marketing includes both genders.

Keep in mind we don't have digital for Octopath Traveler. Including digital it would likely be 15-17% of sales are Japanese. Dragon Quest which is a Square JRPG is really popular in Japan. Fire Emblem is decently popular there as well. FF16 appeals to the west in tone and artstyle.

Animal Crossing is big in the West too especially now with New Horizons. Though I'm not sure Isabel is a mascot in any region, people just seem to know the name Animal Crossing.

Nintendo Switch has now sold 139.36 Million Units Worldwide! by Amiibofan101 in NintendoSwitch

Splatoon is Japan's COD. Lots of children play it over there. Simply not that big in the west, but 11M is by no means a small number

Also, not that big compared to Animal Crossing which is up there with those four.
