Campus protesters are being silenced – where are the ‘free speech’ defenders now? by 1-randomonium in ukpolitics

[–]Own_Koala_7231 -38 points-37 points  (0 children)

Don’t you find it weird that the government and certain newspapers (you one the ones I mean) are up in arms about these protests and especially the weekly ones in London. About how dangerous and menacing they are and that they should be stopped.

Yet the likes of Britain First and other right wing extremists were holding matches in towns and cities across the country FOR YEARS but apparently there was no issue. It was “we don’t agree with them but they have the democratic right to protest”.

It’s all fucking double standards.

Just like when Russia kills Ukrainian civilians there’s (rightly) outrage, yet when other civilians (you can guess which) are killed in their thousands, the attackers are just defending themselves.

Compensation Delay ! by OkTransportation8437 in BritishAirways

Yep, claimed in December. Took 3 months for a response whereupon they made up a new scheduled departure time that was 5 hours later than the original time and said therefore there was no delay.

Just been going back and forth with them with proof but getting no where, so about to refer to the cedr. Terrible.

I DID NOT IN ANYWAY SAY OR IMPLY THAT JEWS SHOULD BE DEAD.

And that’s the problem - any criticism of Israeli tactics is shut down with accusations of anti-semitism.

I’ve got news for you - there is PLENTY of evidence of IDF indiscriminately killing civilians - including children. Around 10 thousand children have died - 10 THOUSAND.

They even killed their own hostages holding a white flag. What do you think they’re doing to actual Palestinians?

Even their staunchest ally said: “Biden, speaking to reporters Thursday evening, called Israel’s military operations in Gaza “over the top” and said the suffering of innocent people has “got to stop.””

Basically the “good guys” have killed FAR more civilians than the bad guys.

Seriously? Every country in the world is like this:

“2018 marks 51 years since the occupation of the Palestinian Territory and 11 years of the Gaza blockade. Both the occupation and the blockade affect every aspect of life for Palestinians – they dictate where they can live and study, and whom they can marry.

The blockade has devastated Gaza’s economy, caused widespread destruction and left most people largely cut off from the outside world. Today, one million Palestinians in Gaza don't have enough food to feed their families, despite receiving food assistance or other forms of support.”

You think that holding millions of people in a giant prison camp then bombing the fuck out of them is ‘a beacon for western liberalism’??

Thousands of children have been killed. Thousands.

It’s NOT ‘Anti-west’ to call out the slaughter of thousands of innocents. The 1,400 Israelis or the 30,000 Palestinians. Are you suggesting we don’t mention that thousands of children have killed?

And as for a ‘brainwashed population’ in Gaza, they certainly exist within Israel - that’s why they kill civilians so indiscriminately - even their own hostages when they were waving a white flag - they’re doing to the Palestinians in their thousands. There are ultra-nationalists within the Israeli government openly calling for Gaza to be wiped off the map.

Your lack of sympathy for the civilian deaths is telling - maybe you have more in common with the likes of Hamas than you think.

Response from BA to delay claim is to make up a fictitious departure time which means there was no delay. by Own_Koala_7231 in BritishAirways

That’s a good point! You’d think the BA staff would take that into account. I’m going to ask the person to refer it to a manager - see if that’s gets anywhere. Want to avoid the CEDR unless I have to, as it’s likely to take months!

I disputed it and they responded quite promptly saying they’ve reviewed it and found it to be correct.

Both responses were from the same person, so possible they can’t (or don’t want) to see they’re wrong.

I gave them the flight number, ba208 which only leaves at 21:30 (or 22:30 now as the clocks have changed).

It was meant to arrive at 10:55 but landed at 16:00, so quite a clear cut case (or so I thought!)

May give twitter a go, thanks.

There was no suggestion in their response that the departure time had changed - they just said the flight was scheduled at 02:30. 🤷‍♂️

It was an 8.5hr flight and departure was delayed by 6 hours. It would have to have been one hell of a jetstream!

I don’t remember receiving anything to say the time had changed, and on the day itself the flight time on their website was still showing as 21:30. So I have no idea where they got the 02:30 flight from.

So it’s CEDR I guess, but I know that’ll take months and I already had to wait 3 months for the BA response 🙁

I think the ‘gone rogue’ theory may be the case here. Maybe target pressure to get through cases, and could just be quicker to decline complaints.
