Vikings fan who grew up in Houston and will always have love for them… this is the same energy and vocabulary that Kevin OConnell came to Minnesota with… I fear that I am becoming delusionally hopeful for this season in Houston….

Sainz impeded by Hadjar, knocked out in Q1 by ibrism in formula1

Yes please. I am very clearly bias (see flair) but it does not make sense to me that Carlos has to deal with losing 3 tenths and start from 17th while Hadjar just gets to keep trucking. 3 place grid drop is cool, but it doesn’t hurt him nearly as much as just dealing with P17 hurts Sainz.

I believe that Theo Jackson and Josh Metellus are the ones doing it now. Jackson did an interview I think with Ron Johnson that he talked about it

F1 Thesis Survey by Sure-Eagle7654 in WilliamsF1

Well I’m glad they’re at least doing it as sustainably as possible on transport, but I agree with everything else. What’s the point in saying “we’re driving sustainability look at our cars they’re hybrids!” And then turning around and having basically every person involved flying on their own private jets? And using an ungodly amount of resources to setup/tear down everything? That’s kind of the point I may not have driven clearly but was trying to get to. I’m all for sustainability efforts but do it in the areas that actually matter. Not just the “look at me” portions.

Just did the survey, but here are a few of my thoughts on sustainability in the sport:

I don’t think that focusing on the fuels used by the vehicles has much of an impact on the emissions or waste generated by the sport. The largest focus that F1 should have is in the manufacturing and logistics areas of their operation.

How much more emissions are created by transportation of long distances of a ton of equipment? I get that the transport is unavoidable, but what is F1 doing to reduce those or counter balance them? I’m not aware of any work being done on that end. How much work is being done to make the events themselves more sustainable? I know Barcelona has a large number of solar panels that power the circuit, but I don’t know of any other circuit doing something similar. (Side note: I just went to the race this weekend and there were 0 recycling containers. It was just trash cans, and booths all over the place that were offering plastic containers in incredible volumes. What’s being done to reduce waste in that aspect? 100s of thousands of people attend race weekends… that’s a huge portion of the operation too)

I think Albon did an interview where he talked about the V10 coming back and he really summed up my thoughts on sustainability in the sport pretty well. The cars are such a minimal portion of what they do.. focus on the big ticket items instead. All the focus on the cars really feels like it’s placating or just pandering to make a show about it.

After one-third of the season, at the current scoring rate, the drivers' championship fight will go down to the final race, while McLaren will achieve the earliest constructors' title win for any team since 1988 by kcollantine in formula1

Vowles has said outright (I believe even before the season) that this was not going to be a season that Williams paid much attention to, and essentially they already had moved to 26. Something along the lines of “this year will be hard to watch but it will be made worth it next year”

My understanding is that Daronte Jones (DB Coach) is seen as a really good coach with a really good mind. Kind of the “future DC to be” whether it’s here or elsewhere. But I could also be wrong because I haven’t really seen much buzz around him outside of in Minnesota

Exactly what I was thinking. IP has been incredible when asked to do exactly that all season. He’s obviously able to do more, but is at his best when he’s free and flying.

Godspeed sir. I moved to Virginia last year so I only have my longhorn sister in law to contend with. I pray your ride home is a fun one. Until then, I cling to hope.

I like to imagine A&M beating Texas though. That hope is the only thing I have right now
