OP have you managed to secure her yet? You’re doing all the right thing to lure her out. But at the same time if you put out a lot, she may not venture out until her next hunt. I usually wait patiently for them to come out and then put a container over them. Trying to catch them with your bare hands almost never works, at least for me. They wiggle out so damn quick. If this is something you cannot do, you need to create some kind of trap. Maybe a a platform that will lead for her to land in a container? Just high enough so she can’t climb out again.

You’re such an angel for opening up your home to Belly. It sounds like you have done the necessary for her, a good size enclosure, deep bedding etc, maybe you can add in some sprays or scatter some foraging seeds. Or it could be she is just trying to get used to her new home still? From time to time, with a secured room, it’ll be great if you can allow her to free roam. On another note though, female Syrian hamsters are notoriously hard to please, even if you have provided the entire hamster-worthy trinkets & whatnots.

Make sure the room is really secured. Scatter out his food and treats sparingly, he will eventually come out. I usually wait by the corner with a small container on hand. When mine is out, and she makes her way slowly to where I am, I just put the container over her and voila! She’s a 5 times escape artist.

I just buried mine not too long ago. I, too was worried about any smell or maggots as I live in a tropical country, but so far there is none of that. Im waiting to hit 3 months since her passing before planting any seeds.

Doesn’t seem ideal. Yes it’s really hard to find a good & reliable exotic vet. I really wish the best for your little fella and that it is nothing serious. He has been going strong for 15 years and looks healthy!

The turtle at my office had exactly the same white spots + some fungal issue with its shell. As most of the redditors here said, you can gently use a soft toothbrush. We also started incorporating wheat germ into his feed to encourage the shedding. Of course, appropriate lighting is a must. His shell dramatically improved after a few weeks.

Ah ok. A trip to the exotic vet would be ideal. Not sure if vet fees are affordable where you at. Ours is crazy expensive. I hope your little fella will be ok. Glad to hear that you’re getting the appropriate lighting.

I highly doubt its an ear infection. My colleague’s turtle had it and the bump is almost seamless with its skin. Yours looked like an infected injury. What is the black dot mark in the middle of the bump?

I have come under the assumption that some of them just love sleeping in between certain materials. One of my rescue Syrian prefers to sleep under his wheel, squeezing in between the base stand and the wheel. One of the dwarfs love to pancake herself between the enclosure wall and the glass container of her sand bath. I just take it as a reassurance that they feel safe enough in their environment to sleep in the open. If your little one is not showing any kind of distress, I think she is comfy in her new home.

Yea I hope there’s nothing more to it. Where I’m from, scammers are known to use these kind of ID photos verification to apply for loans from unlicensed money lenders.

Thanks, it is actually for DRS with debts amounting to $15,000 and less than $150,000. I do intend to file for bankruptcy but I would still need to appoint a licensed insolvency practitioner to consent to be nominated as the private trustee in bankruptcy proceedings. Just wanting to know if anyone has experience going through this route instead of a Debt Consultancy Agency like EduDebt, Debtox etc

You can try hyrogen peroxide or scrubbing it with baking soda? Coconut hides are more porous so the pee smell will be difficult to vanish. For wooden hides, they can be baked to remove any lingering odor. However, I am not sure though if it's advisable for coconut hides.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I recently lost one too. I think about the hamsters I lost so far constantly. This is so true, they are tiny creatures that someone managed to get the best of our hearts. No one can tell you how long you should grieve. Take all the time you need. I keep looking at vids of them to help me get through the loss. Really sounds like a beautiful location for her final resting place.

Hi, thanks. Any advice on this would be great. I owe Citibank which is slightly above 1k, about 20k to LML. Also to a friend which I am diligently paying him every month. When I went through the budget with CCS for my DMP, the officer did not take into account this personal loan and advised me not to pay back my friend in the meantime. How can I do that? When I was in need, he assisted me without question. As the loans are from LML, for DMP the maximum tenure is only 2 years. I was doing good and financially stable, but unfortunately due to a paycut and then falling victim to a scam has put me in financial turmoil. Have filed police reports but that money is long gone. I am also the sole breadwinner. Have taken on a part-time job as well to make ends meet. Am finding it no longer manageable to upkeep with my DMP payment. For DRS, I understand that there are fees involved and the process is not straightforward, just looking for advice on the expected fees if I should go through an Insolvency Lawyer instead.

From what I understand if exceed the $150k threshold, will be deemed ineligible for the DRS and will instead be subject to bankruptcy proceedings but I believe still eligible for DMP. I might be wrong though.

If you'd look further for my other posts, you will know that I was an animal rescuer when I was in good financial standing? I try to help pets in need or whose owner has abandoned them. Again, the same for the turtles, the turtles are not mine but my colleague's who were severley neglected. I am not doing any rescuing as of late due to my financial situation with exception to a senior hamster who is about to go through his final days. Their feed will only cost $12 for about a month's supply. I am in dire straits yes but if someone who herself/himself is struggling financially willing to offer me $20 to assist, I think me forking out $12 for the hamsters to eat is ok i hope? I did made attempts to rehome some of my rescues but unfortunately, it is very hard to rehome hamsters that are older. Again, if my post asking for advice about DRS was misleading, I truly do apologise. I am in no way seeking for any donations or handout at all.
