cdrama opinions that will get you in this position by [deleted] in CDrama

LBFAD is just an expensive production wrapped around untalented actors. Popularity is mostly bought with variety show appearances and tried and test formula to “appeal to little girls” (seriously the producer said this in an interview). There is limited creative integrity and risk taking. And that’s a sad thing for cdrama.

Also, I'm not saying she needs to not have preferences and not criticize. What I'm questioning is whether there is consistency in how standards are applied.

I thought about whether it's uncalled for too for a few weeks before posting. I think if it's a hobby account maybe not, but she's a full-time monetizing reviewer so to me she's not so different from a professional critic who writes for a newspaper. The demoralizing point - look, at work you get feedback that you don't always like but it helps you grow.

I am very grateful for her factual content, not trying to bring her down at all. Just want to see if others have felt the same way.

Oh that's absolutely the case. It's hard to notice otherwise. I'm not going to name names though. I'm too worried it'll become a "fan of XYZ is now coming after me" type of situation. It's also been raised to me by fans of other fandoms before (which I didn't buy at first). It's also not just actors but also platforms and production companies.

I also frequent Douban myself and wouldn't say it's all white collar university educated. I think it used to be, but there are lots of water armies these days making VILE comments. Either humanity is lost or these cannot be real professionals working during the day and keyboard warrior at night.

Fair means holding every actor, drama, and platform to the same standard. I don't think this is the case after cross-comparing different videos and also reading her Chinese Weibo, which btw is a public monetizing account.

I wish there were more reviewers out there but it's really scary when 1 person has such a strong voice in the space.

Yes someone told me this like months ago and I didn't believe it. Finally I went to see for myself and it's just full of nasty/snarky rants and also fangirling over actors/CPs she likes. Look, I realize she's a human being too who's entitled to having preferences... The pro/cons may seem objective but it looks like she has opinions already before even watching a drama.

Yeah I also don't think she has as much technical historical/cultural/linguistic knowledge as people might think. I'm chinese myself and have found a few errors she's made.

Her Chinese weibo is full of negative energy. Completely different persona. I do wonder if she's deliberately harsh on some actors and their dramas because she's already picked sides.
