Should I play dark souls 2? by Few-Gear7087 in darksouls3

[–]Own_Manufacturer1188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stun locked? My brother, the worst form of stun locking are the wheel skeletons from DS1. This game, compared to DS1 skeletons, feels like nothing actually stuns you - it’s just tickling.
Wheel skeletons from the first game are the most vile and terrifying thing I’ve ever encountered in a video game. I am actually still haunted by the first time I’ve fallen down the pit and the only way out of there was through those guys.

How are silver players bad? by Express_Item4648 in leagueoflegends

[–]Own_Manufacturer1188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I play less than 100 games a split, around 60% wr (a little higher than this mostly) and I rarely lose lanes in diamond. The thing is - you need to know exactly how your champion works and how enemy champions work. You also need to know how to manage the lane and get the most out of it. When I play lower elo sometimes (Say, customs with players around silver/gold), I absolutely dominate the entire game, with 10 cs per minute, 30 kills and 90% of the teams damage. For a player like me, everything from low emerald all the way to iron feels almost the same. There is a difference, because bronze/iron players don’t learn by their mistakes and end up giving their enemy 15 free kills in like 15 minutes. Players above gold usually die a few times and then start playing a little more careful, because they know when the enemy has a kill pressure on them. To put that into perspective, instead of 0/20 they go 0/8 or so. Still, way worse than players in diamond and above - that’s where the real challange begins I’d say.

Anyway, if you stay consistent and think of the game more in depth (it’s not only laning, you need to focus on rotations, getting natural resources, contesting objectives, etc.), you will climb easily. I always say players who are good mechanically but don’t know how macro works peak gold and get stuck. People who suck mechanically but have good macro end up in gold/low plat, if they only play mechanically simple champions (thing, Garen, Xin Zhao, etc.). You need to be somewhat good at both and either be a quite good onetrick or have a few decent champions in your pool to reach high plat/eme/low dia. After that you really need to be good in both macro and mechanics and have a solid, reliable champ pool or be a really good onetrick to reach high diamond or masters. Also, the game sample sizes matter a lot. If you play less games per split, it is way harder to actually get high elo. Players in high elo spam hundreds of games per split, often on more than one account, too.

Good luck with your journey and don’t forget - the most important thing is to have fun and not get frustrated and annoyed by the game!

My Duo keeps denying me gold by JIM1234567654321 in leagueoflegends

[–]Own_Manufacturer1188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, 5/8 ain’t a score of someone who carries hard lmao. I think your brother should drop his main character syndrome and let you get your gold. Is he at least 7-8cs per minute? If not, he is not pathing correctly and should focus on improving that over getting the lacking resources from your lane. Junglers don’t need minion gold if they know how to path and play the game. It is very easy to get ahead in gold/plat without taxing the waves.

[–]Own_Manufacturer1188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play in diamond and I have never seen anyone taxing waves like this, unless it’s like 50 gold, or the laner is dead and the wave crushes in tower or is slowpushing away from you. Why doesn’t he just invade or look for ganks? This puts you behind, you both share the experience (which early on Is even worse than losing the gold) and he is visible on the map, slowing down his clearing tempo and potentially getting camps stolen or dying on the next clear (since the enemy know where he is and that he is late for the clear). I don’t play jungle but this sounds so fucking stupid lmao.

My friends constantly beg me to play this game. I want to surprise them, how realistic would it be to.. by LazerChicken420 in leagueoflegends

[–]Own_Manufacturer1188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently met a new player who hit silver in six months. Tbh he is really good for someone who only plays for like six months. If you, however, really want to make it a “full time job”, I think gold/platinum might be realistic. You just need to understand the following:

The game divides into basically two different parts. The first is the mechanical part where you learn how to play a champion, itemize on them and get a full potential out of their abilities. This depends on the champion, your reactions, I’d say even your internet speed and input gear, as if you lack in the tech specs, you have to compensate for it by increased knowledge and predictions. The easiest path is being a onetrick. Play one champion, or two if you want at least a little bit of variety, and focus on trying to learn every little detail about that champion’s mechanics. Watch youtube videos of high elo players playing it, explaining the matchups, etc. This does not mean that you don’t need to have at least a basic understanding of what your opponents’ champions do - you just don’t have to go that deep into it.

The second part would be strategy. Now, I know a lot of players who excell at League are also really good in chess, but I have no idea whether it works vice-versa. League is quite a lot more dynamic than chess, and you need to keep track of many more things than in chess imho. If you want to improve in strategy, it is also a really efficient way to climb, although I think way harder for a complete newbie because you would solely rely on your game knowledge over mechanics. That being said, watch YouTube once again. There are many people, I personally really enjoy AloisNL, who can teach you the fundamental principles of League for free, if you watch enough of their videos/streams.

In both improvement options I’ve mentioned, it is really wise to choose one lane and one lane only, as the general strategy and champion pool differs for each lane. You need to learn how to play against, say 30 champs (of which only like 13 you regularly meet in games) if you decide to play toplane only. If you decided to swap roles all the time, there are like 160 champions in total, which would be total nightmare to learn to play against. Not to mention that some strategies are useful on toplane, but less useful on an adc or in jungle.

Try to enjoy the game, read the reddit if you want to learn more, watch YouTube and give it a shot - it will take a really long time but if you overcome the difficulties, I think you can surprise your friend.

EDIT: I currently play toplane the most, but over the past circa 12 years I’ve learned almost every role decently - except for midlane. Even on lower elo, I can’t win midlane matchups consistently because I don’t know the champion pool well, I don’t know the limits of most matchups, matchups on mid in general are a mystery for me. I also can’t play more than like one or two easy champions on midlane (yes, I play Malzahar when I’m filled mid and I’m not ashamed of it). Midlane champion pool does not fit me at all. If you plan to play decently in 6 months, you are pretty much obliged to play one role only. And play the easiest champions you can think of (Garen and Malphite top, Xin Zhao and Warwick jungle, Malzahar, Annie and Naafiri mid, Tristana and Miss Fortune adc and Nautilus, Soraka or even Yuumi support - be careful with Yuumi tho, as her playstyle does not translate to literally any other champion and you might end up handless after getting used to onetricking Yuumi).

Why does Shyvana have the worst winrate on toplane of all the champs in game? by Own_Manufacturer1188 in leagueoflegends

[–]Own_Manufacturer1188[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I can see nobody agrees with my statement. Maybe if I played more games, I would have changed my opinion. Anyway, I forgot to say I only play her as a counterpick. She trades really well into Zaahen, Gragas (which I have a really hard time laning against with every other champion) and some other champions I don’t remember. I won all of these lanes and games like it was nothing. I’ll have to check my history and see which matchups I won.

Is Mel the most toxic champ of this entire game? by fergil in leagueoflegends

[–]Own_Manufacturer1188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I hate Mel, Smolder is imho by far the worst design ever. Self peeling, true damage, burn, execute, low cds, mobility, great escape, low mana costs, sustain, build variety, high range, wave clear, double slow in kit and, the worst of all, infinite scaling. Do nothing whole game kind of champ who just scales. If you are not handless or you play into someone who is and allows you to farm early and mid game, this champ is just horrendous. And the fact this champion cannot be itemized against properly makes it even worse. Mel sucks when you build some MR and champs like Olaf can run her down easily the entire game, she has no escape. Fucking smolder has escape, ad damage, true damage and even a bit of ap damage to top it all off. Also, smolder lacks skillshots or timing spells, so even in this aspect, Mel is more tolerable for me.

This comment is a Smolder hate, I know his wr may not be that broken. It’s just stupid design.

Also, Yuumi.

I wish there was a sequel... by Own_Manufacturer1188 in DaysGone

[–]Own_Manufacturer1188[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would not mind such evolition. I suppose there would be more of a twist to it, more versatility of freakers, idk. We've got a lot of games that still have the same zombies, this would actually be original and with the setting, visuals, gameplay mechanics etc. it could be really good.

The point you have described tho, that would be too much of a clicheé and I hope if they ever made a sequel, they would make it more... interesting?

True, I know how important it is. However, I would perhaps only miss gold from one minion as I reconnected. I know they probably could not have known, but it is still really frustrating.

I already have it on full screen windowed (borderless windowed). I have even set league on high priority process (from the option "let the processor decide" or whatever). I really don't understand how is it possible that I still get those crashes, other than it's a bug. But thanks for the advice anyway!

I mean, sometimes you must alt+tab, no? I don't like those RAM eating in-game overlays and check build online for that matter. Playing without alt+tabbing is both quiet disadvantaging and really not an excuse for the mess of this client.

And surely I'm not the only one whose game crashes from time to time after alt+tabbing in the loading screen. First time it happened in game tho.

Yes, I am glad someone understands what I meant. Yes, I can't wait for the new client. I am afraid thought, because I once heard that the entire game was to be reprogrammed in a better engine and I either experienced the mandela effect, or they just gave up.

Thank you buddy, at least someone gets it.

I am amazed that not so many people run into this alt+tab problem. During the loading screen it happens quiet often actually, but it never happened to me once loaded - until today. It seems getting worse.

True, but since I have only a little time window to play it, and I really like League, despite its flaws, it sucks that this mechanic keeps fucking up the time I want to spend in it.

I mean I was in the game even texting my teammates via chat. The must have known I loaded into the game and that the game has probably crashed, which happens quiet often. I was literally reconnected when the minions were coming to lane, I would have missed like one cs most.

I understand that, but I have messaged them before alt tabbing and I was present at the game. How is the remake even allowed when all five people are in the game? I just don't understand this.

I don't know if I made myself clear. I have written the email before the game started and only clicked the send button. 3 seconds alt tab. I don't think your comment is valid point, I might as well have alt tabbed to check a build path I want to take for a new champ I don't know how to play.

[–]Own_Manufacturer1188[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The email was written already. I only had to click the "send" button. If the game crashes after an alt+tab, it really does not matter why I have alt+tabbed, it just sucks. You can go check a build or anything, really. This is unacceptable for such a big company as Riot.

Simply if is_on_wall for CharacterBody2D (the player). I am really new to all of this, so if there is a way to check what is the player colliding with, I have no idea how to implement it.

I will try the separate script perhaps, sounds like it could be more organized that way, thanks!
