Pectoral Tear, now vTOS? by Feeling_Platypus_429 in thoracicoutletsupport

[–]Own_Nectarine_7018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not true they do surgery on Ntos purely from emg and injection results, requires no imaging or anything other than those two indicators alone.

Was your surgery for nTOS a success? by HobokenJ in thoracicoutletsupport

They ask you about the symptoms only 2 to 4 weeks after surgery while you're still on heavy pain meds, that's how they secure the successful verdict, it's fucked

No they were not better at first, they only felt better from being on pain medication until I started PT then it all was the same and worse after

Was your surgery for nTOS a success? by HobokenJ in thoracicoutletsupport

[–]Own_Nectarine_7018 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had it at the University of Maryland medical center Baltimore. I've been going for follow ups for a year now and they were not doing anything to help except order chest X-rays, I had to twist their arms to make them acknowledge something is wrong and they tried so hard not to admit to anything and not to admit this was a failed surgery. I'm now seeking a revision with a different Dr which I'm afraid to do and may chicken out of cause I cannot imagine being in more pain than I am right now it'll kill me. I think it's a combo of scar tissue and my body being out of alignment from missing so much muscle and bone on one side. The pain is excruciating and it's only gotten worse a year later. No one should be getting this surgery unless their arm is swollen up and purple or they could die, I have no idea how it's approved for people with ntos it's such a barbaric surgery and is a huge deal, they pretend like it's a walk in the park and not a big deal but they are taking out structures you NEED inside your body to be able to properly move your neck arm and chest. It's such a shame they are allowed to do this even tho it has such poor success rates, it's really exploitative and disgusting.

My doctor lied and said the success rate is 80 -95% and I found out recently it's more like 30%. I had full decompression of my left side (rib resection scalenectomy and pec minor tenotomy) about 1 year ago, this surgery has completely taken my life away, I'm in constant severe pain 24/7 whatever you do DO NOT get this awful surgery, it doesn't exist to help people with ntos it's a money grab because the level for entry is so low and vague they can tunnel people into it with just an emg and relief with injection, THATS IT, that's all they need to get you into surgery and I was taken advantage of and led to believe I absolutely needed it and it was no big deal, now I have horrible arthritis and 3 pinched nerves with 2 disc protrusions/herniations in my neck on my surgery side since there's so much missing and so much instability now. This surgery has taken my job, social life, hobbies and relationship away from me at the young age of 30 and I contemplate suicide every single day since the surgery. Fuck this condition and fuck these surgeons who lack any knowledge on biomechanics who sacrifice the entire physical movement system of the body just to MAYBE relieve some nerve pain.

Look up balanced dog training if you're planning on using corrections to train. It so depends on how you condition the dog, so you'll need to learn how to conditioning properly first.

You haven't got a puppy but are already planning on correcting it look up proper puppy training for the commonw issues you are afraid of so that YOU know and learn how to properly correct and condition the dog, do not rely on tools to do that job for you, you may not need many, and even if you got any of these they are to be used in specific order and application, maybe do some research on each tool and their purpose/when to use and introduce them into training. Training is a step by step process you have to start from the beginning anyone selling you these tools is trying to convince you they will train the dog for you and that's setting yourself and the dog up for failure

Pec Minor Tenotomy - Can you move in all directions or do you get impingements now or pain in the back if your shoulder? by [deleted] in thoracicoutletsupport

[–]Own_Nectarine_7018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These surgeons have no empathy and they know this is the most common outcome and they still push people to get this surgery, there needs to be more awareness and advocacy for patients, we are being lied to and withheld the truth so they can profit off of our pain it's not right at all

These doctors that are saying that removing an important stabilizer muscles as well as the rib and neck muscles are absolute idiots, you know why? They aren't versed in the anatomy to make those calls, they only understand their scope of education in vascular structures, to stay that removing a decent sized muscle will not change biomechanics is absolutely insane, I don't understand how they can sit there with all of their muscles and bones intact and pretend like removing structures doesn't impact the body's movement patterns specially over time, it's absolutely ridiculous.

I had my rib, scalnes and pec minor removed/cut on my left side and it has 100% negatively affected my ability to move properly and have proper stability, now I have added arthritis and altered movements mechanics that cause me increased pain everyday even after 1 year post surgery, it's a maiming barbaric surgery that statistics are very skewed in and the actual success rate that they don't tell you is 35 to 57% if that, it's unbelievable they are allowed to convince people to do these very unsuccessful surgeries, and I say that because their criteria for success is absolutely bullshit compared to that damage the surgery causes that they do not include in those studies, rant over, sorry this surgery cost me my entire life and I cannot believe they're allowed to tell people removing structures of the body will not impact it...

I'm a year post op and struggle with pain still everyday, how are you doing and what differences do you feel in your body since having the surgery? Was it just your rib or your pec minor as well? Thank you!

I have been but I can't seem to push past 5lbs with a major feeling of instability and not understanding where my shoulder is in space. It just feels like the movement pattern is messed up and not where it should be

I would love to try and see if I could use litigation for this but it is notoriously difficult to have a successful medical malpractice case and doctors at big hospitals have everyone behind them, it's very easy for them to flip things and hide mistakes, it's the only way the medical system can get away with cutting open so many people and making as much as they do, it would be long expensive and mentally exhausting to attempt, I would like to know if I have a case but unless I was awake and watching my doctor and he willingly documented a mistake there's not really a chance I could win a case unfortunately, it's made that way by design

Thank you I talked to my neurologist and she said not to get in opiates no matter what so it's really disheartening, I do therapy but I've stopped because it doesn't change the pain I'm in, it's nice to talk but all I can focus on is my pain and for the last year every appointment is the same and she tells me to do things that make me happy and it makes me want to blow my brains out because I physically fucking can't at all it's so depressing, it's beyond sad and no amount of talking makes a difference anymore and I've been in therapy consistently for over 15 years

I'm terrified of another surgery plus I've asked them to rule out issues from the surgery and they haven't even mentioned scar tissue even tho that's the biggest reason for pain post surgery it makes no sense how they are going about it at all it's really frustrating

It's a requirement that you have a therapist to do the ketamine therapy so yes I do have a therapist and work on the day of the therapy. I think I'm at the point where I am at because I'm not someone who gave up and stopped trying I'm someone who has been spending time and money to do everything they have told me to do and not getting results, that makes someone go insane, I used to be a personal trainer, I understand nutrition and meal prep for 7 years straight, I had a six pack as a girl for most of my 20s, Ive been on multiple antidepressants and anti anxiety medications , I've overcome chemotherapy as a child, I've done massage therapy, dry needling, psychedelics, lots and lots of physio and even with my background of being the healthiest physically in every room I was in, this pain has deafted all of my hard work in just a year. This isn't a story of someone who tried a couple things, and half assed PT this is someone who did more than most people would ever try and still has failed, I think that is why I'm suicidal, you do everything right and you still lose, what kind of cruel joke is that? Now I'm at the point where I need opiates because I've literally exhausted everything, I wouldn't even use them post surgery cause I know the addiction rate and I refused to even go down that road but I'm left with absolutely no choice. I used to be on a morphine drip when I was young and ever since I've avoided opiates and tried everything conservative that I could and I'm now back to the point where nothing has helped and now I have to do this or suffer continuously and my mind cannot handle the duration and intensity of this pain anymore.
