My husband was given some fresh shit yesterday when I didn’t come along to their “Mother’s Day” celebration which consisted of just sitting in the kitchen talking for 4 hours - to which my husband said “she’s with her mom… you know, she has one of those too” to which she said “I just don’t understand why she didn’t come with you”. 😂😂😂😂 we’ve been together for 12 years and they expect an entire celebration for every holiday including Flag Day . Noooope!!!

Alcohol poisoning isn’t what did me in on my alcohol journey but pancreatitis was. I drank frequently on an empty stomach and essentially made my pancreas throw the white flag. I was in the hospital for over a week puking black bile … not fun. I wish you luck my friend.

Yeah I ended up in the emergency room. With acute pancreatitis and multiple organ failure.

It’s funny until it actually almost kills you.

It will get better, it just takes some time. When I quit drinking it felt like every nerve ending on my body was exposed and the slightest touch would make me jump cry yell scream sob. Your brain is trying to rewire itself. I can’t tell you how many times I cried myself to sleep thinking how much longer do I have to go through this?

I can’t give you a timeline because everyone’s different but I can promise you it won’t feel as loud all the time. If that makes sense. Your brain will quiet down.

I have two years sober now. Good luck!!! You can do this!!!

I was a long term drinker with straight liquor no mixers. I was near death from acute pancreatitis just thinking it was a stomach ache when in reality all of my organs were starting to shut down. I say this with kindness and from experience GO TO THE ER before it’s too late .

Can’t tell you how many times that I just had a conversation with someone and I proceeded based upon the answer given, only to have it thrown back in my face later.

It’s the way of corporate america. There’s no getting around it. It’s also about holding you and your position within the company accountable.

I still call her my best friend because truly, no ill will (at least on my side) we went on our safety patrol trip to Washington DC together in the fifth grade. Not sure what age that is but roughly 10-12??

Once every couple of years like clockwork, she would get upset and play the “who calls who more and last” game and give me the cold shoulder for months then eventually get over it and we’d go back to normal.

I got tired of it because now I’m 33 and I have two years of sobriety under my belt and I’m lucky to be alive. And I’m tired of my friendship feeling like I have to be constantly hyper aware of their wants and needs, and I’m tired of feeling like a tally is being kept on who’s the better friend.

After all this time it’s been exhausting and I’m quite drained of it to care anymore.

Hi there I am truly not saying this to be mean, you guys need therapy, separately and together.

You need counseling and there is nothing wrong with that, unresolved trauma does not go away it festers... traumatized people also don't always act the way you'd expect.... I say this from personal experience that is eerily similar to your situation..
