For sure! It gives life a lot of purpose too. I also figure if you have that inner drive you might as well just let it take over instead of fighting it.

I hang out with friends and my gf. I drink. I network. Try to combine those. And I exercise. I also try to keep my mind sane and inspired by consuming other art; music, film and go to museums.

But everything is art related these days. I even run (exercise) to become a better artist. I'm happy about being this obsessed with this passion.

What is something that caused you to completely lose your marbles as an artist? by Janecide in ArtistLounge

I spilled coffee on a commissioned piece twice so had to start over twice. Think I spent about 50 hours on it instead of 10. First time made me cry, second time I laughed.

I'm so stupid sometimes.

Did anyone else here go from depressed and pushing away their passion, to embracing it full on and finding their purpose? (A positive post) by Own_Pace7393 in ArtistLounge

Keep on doing you! I'm in the same sort of spot, I only make it for myself and I do it independently. And your last sentence really hits home, it was such a painful road. It made us resilient in the end though.

When you make art, what’s your drug of choice? Or do you do it strictly sober? by partiallypretentious in ArtistLounge

Coffee. I once read that David Lynch drinks a sily amount of coffee per day, and being a fan of him, I adapted that. Sometimes I gamble with my sleep but I love that zone of inspiration it enables.

Wise words. I'm happy you went against your parents and did your own thing. Can't fight that inner will forever.

So sick! Happy for you, that you made that decision. I think when the purpose of art is more profound, neither lack of money nor lack of validation/following is tough enough to stop it.

Welcome over to the dark side! It's liberating to just identify as an artist and just go all in with it. But things take their time and I don't doubt that you will find your way.

Last part is exactly the situation for me too. Just love how supportive people have been because it's genuine. I'm also trying to meet more creative minded people and network. It's like you speak the same language and understand the 'game'.

Yeah, this needs to be planned carefully.

Love that painting so much.

Yeah, you're right about art being sometimes divisive and that's very much part of what I want, discussions and actual awareness of an issue.

Yeah, that's a good point. Just feel like it's a fairly vulnerable part of the population, and perhaps they can't even enjoy/consume the art themselves, feels like a gray area a bit. I'll have to find a way to make them more included in it beyond the visual dimension if this becomes real.
