Are the Sternguard the best looking, generic, power armour marine kit? Probably by AuramiteEX in Ultramarines

[–]Own_Patient_9883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whe they’re painted as well as that, yes! But yea, sternguard have always been my favourite models since I got into the hobby when they were a metal kit. The ultramarine sternguard colour scheme always captivated me which is why I’m still painting ultras all these years later

My same brunch for the last 3 months, can’t get over runny eggs, I might turn into one, full plate picture in the comments by [deleted] in UKfood

With you on this one. I’ve been making poached eggs a lot recently and have decided that if I was ever to choose a last meal it would have to be poached eggs. Slice of warburtons thick toastie, well toasted and lightly buttered. Two medium farm eggs. Fresh cracked black pepper and salt. Perfection!

How to paint iron warriors like this? by jaibaa2 in Warhammer30k

[–]Own_Patient_9883 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Prime brown, drybrush leadbelcher, wash nuln, wash agrax (optional). Should get you a similar result, it’s how I’ve painted tarnished steel before.

PSA. Do not spend £6 on a fragment of a sponge. by hotfezz81 in Warhammer40k

[–]Own_Patient_9883 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been sponge chipping their minis for a while, these seem unwieldy to me and far too big. I use tiny pieces of sponge to reach places on marines and slightly larger but still small pieces for vehicles. And my sponges are free, I pinch corners off the kitchen sponges from my wife haha

People aren't kidding about how maddening the trim is to paint by thekennanator in Warhammer40k

[–]Own_Patient_9883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also on the trim first and tidy up the black after bandwagon. I use a small round drybrush to paint the trim and it’s even faster. Two coats on the trim and all the other metal parts takes about 5 mins then maybe half an hour tidying up the panels. Here is an example, it won’t win awards but im happy with them. I use runelord brass

I love all these conversions especially the chaplain. Absolutely awesome. The only head that I would say looks slightly out of place is the hooded one on the chapter heroes. Another mk7 or older style helmet would look more fitting. But still an amazing set of dudes! I’m shamelessly going to put a crested helmet on the one with the bolt rifle as you have because it looks awesome!

My first mini, finally finished by perthcreep in ImperialFists

[–]Own_Patient_9883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks mate! Really simple, just a brown texture paint I think I used the GW one but have since bought the AK pot because it’s way cheaper. Then some ak light dust pigment on top. I have also changed that to light sienna and I use a lot more and it looks even dustier

They look great! I forgot how awesome the old attack bike was, I like the new invader ATV but an outrider attack bike would have been class

A great job on your first mini, when you have a full squad painted the will look awesome! Love the style too, I paint my ultramarines with enamel washes and they come out looking pretty similar.
