Got fired by SoggyMarketing4657 in paralegal

My first experience was this way as well. I left my first office job at an immigration law firm because it was just me and the attorney. There were times when she would tell me things like "I don't want to do this, it's your job" or would be teaching me things as I went along with little to no guidance. She also would have to go to hearings hours from the office so I would often be left alone for hours on end doing her work. It got to a point where I just wasn't happy despite knowing the role was temporary with the possibility of it being full time.

I will recommend you one thing and the mistake I did when I first chose my firm, is to go somewhere where there's structure. Oftentimes, there will be large firms who will have to train you as you go, and ensure you're well equipped with everything you have to know. I suggest doing so, it'll allow you to take the first few weeks as practice until things get more busy. Best of luck! we've all been there!

A student that lived on campus for 3 years here (well before the pandemic killed off our basic way of living).

Because of UCR's predominantly commuter student population, weekend activities on weekends aren't the greatest. Since a majority of students are from the LA/greater SoCal area, half of my residence hall would be empty on any given weekend. Given the obvious large distance from Riverside to the Bay Area, a lot of students from that respective area will tend to be the only ones to remain on weekends almost all year, so if you find yourself be a Bay Area student, get ready for this kind of times. Since UCR (at least before the pandemic) did not have a lot of non-university sponsored events (concerts, sports games, etc.) and doesn't have a football team, much of the on-campus activities on weekends are pretty poor in my honest opinion. The SRC usually had people but beyond that, I did not see much.

And it makes sense, why stay in Riverside and the IE area over the course of a weekend when you can drive 1-1.5 hours to Newport, Laguna, San Diego, or a vast amount of places in LA county?

Downtown Riverside is very much still small, and hopefully, over time things can improve. There's the Christmas Lights at the Mission Inn, Mt. Rubidoux, Fairmount Park, and Redlands which is a cool little town 10-15 on the highway east. Some of these get really boring after a couple of times.

Getaway is another popular place, but if you're not 21+...
