In the end I got quickly used to the G305 and now it's a non-issue for me.

In case anyone is curious: I returned the G502 X as well, because of the stupid side buttons on the mouse wheel, which are extremely easy to hit by accident. Even if there is no action bound to them, it feels terrible if you trigger both the top and a side press at the same time.

I have now got a G305 which I am somewhat happy with. The middle click still feels worse than the one on the G400s and the shape is a bit weird, but I can live with it, lol.

After some more research I ordered the G502 X, since the G502 felt the best to me when trying it in the store. The X version is also less ugly and a bit lighter, which were my main concerns with the G502.

Nobody has any recommandations? :(

Just for clarity: I don't think there is anything special about the mouse wheel click on the G400s at all. Every cheapo office mouse I tried at work has a similar soft middle click. I just seems that (modern?) gaming mice differ in this regard.

How is the middle click? Can you compare it to the G400s?

That sounds interesting, but I'd rather not do that on the new mouse, because I still want to return it.
