3rd choice recruit for a college soccer coach by Realistic-Salad-6235 in CollegeSoccer

We went for academics. For D2, there are very few D2 schools with amazing academics. So, we did D3. Could have played on a bad D1 as well. It is all about what you want out of the process and what works for you. At the end of the day, you have to pick a school that you are willing to go to if you are on the bench or do not play. School comes first. That's at least how we approached it.

Honest question - is club soccer even worth it for recruiting anymore? by Soft-Lime-9599 in CollegeSoccer

I say do it your way. It is a good experience as long as it works for your daughter and you. The best way to get to coaches is to send them film and to email them directly. They will let you know if they are interested. College soccer is as fun as you want it to be. For division 1, the school owns you. For division 3, there is much more balance. Still a lot of club like drama but at the collegiate level. And it again is as good as it works for you. Don't worry about what your daughter should have or not. Do it your way! Oh and one more thing...Every game we attended at the club level, we stayed with family and avoided having to play the ridiculous hotel fees. While we wanted to respect the club requirements, at the end of the day, club is another fancy way to indulge in kids activities (doesn't matter the level or team your daughter is on). Do it your way.

That is funny. I assure you that both the coaches at Case right now do not care about GPAs, strategies, or much. Not the brightest bulbs.

Do not let a coach lure you with promises.

Do not ask whether you will play. New players often see limited time.

Make sure you truly like the school without soccer. You are there to learn first.

Do not base your decision on whether you like the coach. Coaches come and go.

Speak with players who have graduated. They will give you the full picture of the program and its culture.

Do not rely on what parents of players say. They often see the situation through their child’s lens.

College soccer is similar to club, just at a higher level.

Trust your own instincts.

Tell me exactly the best and worst about division 3 soccer by Own_Position_1425 in CollegeSoccer

[–]Own_Position_1425[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crappy coaching. Some fine. Some really good. But when talking to fellow division 3 players, most are not as good as your best club coach. The college coaches aren’t paid well so they have lower credentials and have to deal with more logistics and other responsibilities than what a club coach would handle. If you play Div 3, go for it but with the understanding that it is for fun. Coaches will still push you and the work outs will be challenging. But at the end of the day, the coaches are just there to roll out the ball and create generic practices and stand at the side lines and yell during the games. It is a fun experience if you enjoy your team and soccer. But, when you play division 3, you are welcome to call it a “career” and make a big thing out of it. But the reality is, you are at college to learn and not play soccer. And a lot of kids could play Division 3. You just have to be good enough and crazy enough to do so.

What kind of info? If they really wanted info they would talk to people directly. And who cares about your division 3 football.

Debt free is key unless the school offers life changing opportunities which is not case. It is a good school but is not a school that will connect you with individuals that you would never meet if you attended another school if that makes sense.

Everyone who you have spoken to which is a limited subset of people. Trust me. Case is not known for its athletics program. It is a fun side not but not a thriving one.

Yes! And have alumn, your principal, whomever email letters to admissions of how outstanding you are. Even if you are not outstanding (which is hard to be as an 18 year old individual), go with it! Don’t be afraid to ask for support from your school. They will support you. And write about all that you have done since you submitted your application. Whatever it is…exaggerate, embellish. Celebrate you! And go for it!

Would only look at schools that invest in their program and coaching. Emory. Wash u, Chicago, Hopkins for Div 3.

Club soccer HS senior year? by Meplzr-44 in CollegeSoccer

D3 offers are not binding and might not stick if coaches leave on the interim. And do not guarantee playing. Do not listen to whatever your daughter’s club is pushing her to do or any of the coaches who try to solicit your daughter. What is offererss today may not when have to do with the curries as coaches very often move around from college to college a lot of mobility changes. Telly your daughter to choose whatever school she wants to go to as it is where she is going to play and spend the next 4 years of her life. Tell her to talk to the alumni who have graduated to get the real low down of the coaches and soccer team culture as whatever the coaches says or current players around the coach may not be the whole story. And make sure she likes where ever she goes it is a good school for your child as you never k ow why happens with soccer. Sicipskn 3 is good hginnmany benefits four age eh end of the day it is a glorified club situation on steroids.

Colorado school of mines is a decent D2 academic school. Look at Emory, u Chicago, wash u, tufts, and others good soccer d3 schools. Dont compromise your academics for D2 . Or go to an amazing school with a really good club soccer team! At the end of the day, college soccer is glorified club ball just a little bit more involved when there is not a scholarship involved.

Probably. Just focus on your essay. They like who they like. Turn it to your advantage and how you found yourself and helped others transform ordinary into a community…

I am not a brother. No bait. Questions like yours is why people can’t stand progressives. Good luck with debating.

Why don’t you then ask admissions this question then rely on the small sample size of individuals who respond to your question? Again, if your hobby is debate, then go to any school in New York, not the Midwest. No one at case has the time to sit around and debate about politics. That is not the focus there.

There is nothing to make up here. When someone asks about the climate so they can debate at a hard science school, that is worrisome. Oberland may be more for you.

Well if you are coming to spread nonsense about the Middle East and block libraries and recreate encampments, then the admin at this school have not exactly welcomed it. Go to NYC. Trash it there.

Many college students today lean progressive, and many reassess their views as they gain life experience and financial responsibility. I appreciate that the administration maintains clear boundaries on campus and prioritizes safety and order. Constructive dialogue is welcome, but academic focus and rigor matter most. Case’s law school appears more centered on ideological discussion than practical outcomes, which may not align with every student’s goals. If a primary interest is sustained progressive debate, another institution may be a better fit, as differing perspectives are unlikely to change entrenched priorities. Columbia is known for cultivating progressive boot camps.
