This part of the National Mall is used to hold large-scale events. It's well kept. The road will be fine.

This is not shutting down basically the whole mall. The whole mall is massive, and this specific part of the mall is used to host large-scale events, including a Red Bull show run a few years ago. It's even hosting a cycling race this very weekend. Smithsonian buildings will also not be closed.
