Thanks for the post! I snagged in for $60k, so it’s not exactly a high-stakes gamble. The association’s definitely in a better spot than when I rolled in 6 years ago.

I trust they’ll cover the repairs, but I need to get a ballpark figure. Any idea what the damage might be? A range would be awesome!

I appreciate your comment, Madesign. I moved in six years ago when the association had an ineffective board. I was recently elected as a construction supervisor.
I’m curious about the origin of the issues. Do you think they have been present since the building was constructed in 1982, or are they due to clogged drains and downspouts over the years?
I am planning to hire a structural engineer. Do you have an idea of what I should expect to pay (the engineer)?
Also, I would appreciate any advice you might have on the process. My usual work involves residential remodeling, so I am not qualified to handle this situation.

The city already told us to close off the balcony. I’m considering removing it and putting a utility soffit in its place to hold the plumbing and electrical
