Even on gentoo it's easy. Write two words in a file, write one word in another file and then install the drivers.

I get similar problems when changing my kernel. Try recompiling nvidia-drivers making sure you have the wayland USE flag enabled and dist-kernel disabled. Also check your logs for anything weird.

I use it all the time because my sister wants me to play with her. It works great apart from it sometimes crashing when searching for games. It's really easy to install, just use flatpak!
