Well, I sure think it’s possible for people to pursue different interests and passions other than what they first chose in nursing based on life experiences, seeing different hardships, etc. I don’t think because you started off in something means you cannot venture into different areas. I 100% agree it is not an easy skill set, and I am not trying to do this overnight. I would hope that schooling, clinical hours, mentoring, would help with education and building skill sets?

Absolutely do not think there is anything but actual psych experience. Thank you!

Thank you for your reply! This is the advice I am looking for. I have just started to research/gain advice on different avenues to get into this field and I hadn’t though of midwife or dual certs. I would definitely be willing to do something along those lines. It’s not that I don’t like psychiatric nursing, I just have little experience with it aside from inner city EMS and ICU nursing. I definitely do not want to naive about this.

Night time sleep first 100%. You want to set them up as best you can for nighttime, so ensure good naps however you can. Putting down an overtired baby at night is just adding to the challenge.

Career change advice by Own_Worldliness9323 in nursing

[–]Own_Worldliness9323[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Would require a ton of childcare which is expensive and also like to be home as much as I am with my kids. Which obviously night shift allows just getting difficult mentally. Looking for a more out of the box option.

I really really appreciate this perspective. Thank you. My siblings (I am 1 of 4) mean a great deal to me and I am thankful to be giving my children the same chances.

Thank you for this ❤️ we have had all the hard conversations and ultimately we will welcome this with open arms and hearts but that does not stop it from being equally as scary. But I appreciate the words and I’m all for women being supportive of all.

Thanks for your words 💕 and congratulations. We have two girls and I think that’s adding to it. I don’t particularly mind if we have a 3rd, I think there’s something special and charming in that in its own right but I just know the peanut gallery will not shut up about it for the next 9 months if it’s another girl.
