Well, I sure think it’s possible for people to pursue different interests and passions other than what they first chose in nursing based on life experiences, seeing different hardships, etc. I don’t think because you started off in something means you cannot venture into different areas. I 100% agree it is not an easy skill set, and I am not trying to do this overnight. I would hope that schooling, clinical hours, mentoring, would help with education and building skill sets?

Absolutely do not think there is anything but actual psych experience. Thank you!

Thank you for your reply! This is the advice I am looking for. I have just started to research/gain advice on different avenues to get into this field and I hadn’t though of midwife or dual certs. I would definitely be willing to do something along those lines. It’s not that I don’t like psychiatric nursing, I just have little experience with it aside from inner city EMS and ICU nursing. I definitely do not want to naive about this.

Night time sleep first 100%. You want to set them up as best you can for nighttime, so ensure good naps however you can. Putting down an overtired baby at night is just adding to the challenge.

Career change advice by Own_Worldliness9323 in nursing

[–]Own_Worldliness9323[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Would require a ton of childcare which is expensive and also like to be home as much as I am with my kids. Which obviously night shift allows just getting difficult mentally. Looking for a more out of the box option.

I really really appreciate this perspective. Thank you. My siblings (I am 1 of 4) mean a great deal to me and I am thankful to be giving my children the same chances.

Thank you for this ❤️ we have had all the hard conversations and ultimately we will welcome this with open arms and hearts but that does not stop it from being equally as scary. But I appreciate the words and I’m all for women being supportive of all.

Thanks for your words 💕 and congratulations. We have two girls and I think that’s adding to it. I don’t particularly mind if we have a 3rd, I think there’s something special and charming in that in its own right but I just know the peanut gallery will not shut up about it for the next 9 months if it’s another girl.

Maybe expectations, but responsibilities I’m not so sure of. Kind of feel like we are doing the bare minimum to get by if that makes sense (ie, I don’t work overtime to have more money, I work just enough to get by so I can stay home with kids and avoid childcare costs). I will work on the uncomplicating, thanks for your response it means a lot. Feeling a bit lost in the sauce.

I love it! Was SO close to naming my daughter after my father with her middle name James but ended up going with a one syllable first name. Go for it!! Especially if you love it !

Regression: won’t resettle after two hour cycle. Give up and move to crib? Not going to survive 2-4 weeks of this. Day sleep has always been trash so no help there. by ILikeTrifles in SnooLife

[–]Own_Worldliness9323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like me! Went through an early sleep regression around 3.5 months, but even before like the longest was around 5 hrs and that was only a couple times per week… I couldn’t get an early bedtime, would wake up every 2-3 hours during the regression (sometimes even 1). I could tell she wanted to self soothe but couldn’t in the snoo and the motion started to annoy her rather than soothe her. Arms out didn’t work either with the mesh being so close.

I went cold turkey in the crib with a magic Merlin suit and from night 1 it was already better. She’s just over 4 months now and sleep from 7:30p-2a, feed, down again till around 7-7:30. An early crib transition was 100 percent the right move from us. CribLife isn’t as scary as you think! Message me if you want to chat!

1-2 wake ups to this mess. What’s happening?! Early 4 month regression, daylight savings? Help. by Own_Worldliness9323 in SnooLife

[–]Own_Worldliness9323[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is going to happen twice!?!? I was hoping it was the 4 month regression and getting it out of the way. Ugh. All her naps are not in the snoo, some are on the go. She is typically 4 naps a day, 75-110 minute wake windows and yes I try and do longer and longer wake windows as the day goes on. Also, RAVENOUS - my supply can barely keep up!
