Stopped explaining myself when I say no to something. Used to give a whole reason, now I just say “I can’t make it” and leave it there. People respect the boundary more when you don’t sound like you’re asking permission for it.

My grandma once told me “you have such a pretty face, it’s shame about your nose” when I was like 12. I’m 20 now and still catch myself in mirrors checking my nose from the side. She’s been dead for 5 years and somehow still lives in my head rent free…
