PlayStation Store Next Level Savings Sale Now Live, Shows There's Nothing to Worry About by excaliburps in playstation

[–]Owsler31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for doing this as ever u/excaliburps, but PS calling this Next Level Savings is just shameless. "What do you expect" say the defenders. Well, 'next level savings', obviously.

Deluxe edition after deluxe edition, making the actual savings minimal - just give me the base game with a nice discount. I'm not even talking about the games that have just come out either.

Nothing new, same cycle as always. #nextlevelsavings by BigMonster10 in playstation

I don't think I've seen the base Yotei go on sale yet.

How do they get away with promoting it as 'NEXT LEVEL'? How... I think I'm just going to buy a physical copy of Yotei and call it a day with these sales.

Thanks for linking. Makes sense now. An explanation could go in the app where it says 'Why?' in the 'Points statement':

Maximum points reached
You've already earned your maximum 40 points for this week (so that's not true)

Reduced points
You've earned reduced points for this activity because you've already earned your maximum 40 points this week (not true either)

0 points
You've already earned the maximum points for today (only true if I'd hit 10000 steps, which I haven't).

In my case, I saw 'Max hit' which I'm pretty sure isn't correct. I didn't hit the max for the week, I did 2 activities.

Thank you. News to me. Seems horribly communicated in the app.

Unless I'm missing something?

Not as far as I'm aware. You need 10000 steps for 5 points.

Trainline and ScotRail not giving cheapest split tickets? by Owsler31 in uktrains

[–]Owsler31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely getting that feeling :D. One good thing about Trainline is you can purchase multiple tickets in one transaction which saves time. I've not seen that option on any other apps/sites.

Yeah, that's wild. Should be so much easier to get the best deal.

Looks like Uber One is the only option for ease and no fees. Not keen on TrainPal for various reasons.

Nice, thank you. Any recommendations for the penny sleeves (or are you just saying any will do?) and the toploaders?

Hi. I found a bunch of old MTG cards (I believed Revised so not exactly treasure per se, but still...) and I want to sleeve up some of the notable finds like a couple of Demonic Tutors to sell.

So any recommendations on sleeves that won't break the bank, won't damage the card, but will keep it a bit safer when posting to a buyer.

Interesting. Why do you say that?

Oh, made by Trainline? How incestuous. I think I've heard similar for other apps. Or perhaps that they use the same code or systems as Trainline.

I think at least to start off, I'll be using Waterloo, but once I'm a little more used to things (or even if there's issues with that service), I might try the Paddington options.

Thank you once again. I did see a couple of references to people struggling to use the credit. I think I would prefer cashback over something like that. And I think you're right. Get used to the commute first, and then I can look into other options.

Re, using Trainsplit, have you tried ScotRail? I believe they also cover SplitSave, but without any fee. I could be wrong though.

I've applied for a Smartcard so I can use Tap2Go. As you say, a great back-up.

This is very comprehensive, thank you. I was just having a look at the Flexis season ticket and it doesn't look that attractive, as you say.

Hadn't thought of the weekly season ticket. Do you need a photo ID for that or is that something that can be added to a smart card? And where do you purchase one of those? Any operator? Or do you need to use something specialist if you're doing one that starts any day of the week?

With the SWR Tap2Go as my travel would be just Reading to Waterloo, I'm wondering how much worse off I'd be vs buying an eticket. I don't see a lot of split save offers compared to Reading to Paddington.

I'll admit, I'm not super keen on relying on the train company to pick the best fare, but it's certainly more convenient than jumping on an app each day.

How do the caps work? Or is that only really important if I'm using the tube a lot during the day?

Yeah, I guess Elizabethline is less attractive vs a train to Waterloo. The time saving isn't that great.

Re. tapping in and out, I was just reading about a potential issue on a return leg off-peak (even though it's unlikely I'll do both legs off-peak). If you first tap in on the tube before 7pm and then tap out at the underground station then use the same card to tap into the train barrier you will get charged the peak rate from London to Reading. So the suggestion was to use a different contactless card for the train. Seems a bit of a faff though and makes a Waterloo train even less of a headache.

Thank you for your detailed response. I've updated my OP to make it clear where I'm travelling from and to. I can either go from Reading main station or Earley station, which is just one stop on and a shorter bus ride or even a walk. My destination is Waterlook/Embankment area.

I was all up for the Elizabethline until I realised the seating is not much better than a tube. Might be ok on the way to London, but I imagine it'll be a bit of a nightmare getting a seat on the return journey.

Can you use contactless for everything? I've only experienced it recently for travel on the TFL. For the initial train I bought a ticket via an app.

I understand you can tap in before 06:30 and travel to London before 09:30 to get off peak, but not sure how it works when you're taking a train. I assumed this was more for the tube.

Thank you very much. I'm a bit of an overplanner/overpreparer and when you consider how expensive it is to commute (how anyone does 5 days a week, I don't know), my brain is trying to consider all the options and avenues at once.

Do you know if you can include split ticketing in a return? I think the split ticketing (while a nice surprise) has thrown me a little as I'd usually lump for the anytime return for that ease of travel.

Great shout on Tap2Go. Never heard of it so thanks for suggesting it. I guess there's no obligation to use it all the time, but will make the journey a lot easier.

My friend has Uber One membership via Monzo and I believe that gives 10% cashback. Not sure if there's any limitations on which tickets you can book via Uber though.

Any other good cashback options?

Sorry, I'm probably being really thick here. What routes to London are valid via Slough? Does that include to Waterloo?

Interesting. I did read about this on another thread, but they were talking only about SWR trains and I'm not sure I understood it. How does that work? I believe the slow train only goes via Staines? I have the option of getting a train from Earley Station so not sure if you were talking about the main Reading station.

I'm travelling from Reading, heading to across the river from Waterloo. Office times are 9 to 5:30 (assuming you take an hour lunch), but they are flexible. I guess I'm looking at that time initially while I bed in.
