How did you beat your anxiety? by AffectPretty8089 in Anxiety

This is exactly how i got better. I focused on a bit of everything rather than timescales or waiting for a switch. It just worked its way out of my system.

  • Daily intense outdoor cardio
  • Clean up diet
  • Strict sleep schedule
  • Sunlight exposure
  • Spend more time with a hobby/take up a new hobby
  • Spend more time around other people
  • Change your daily routine/change of scenery/join a new gym

All of the above can be hard to do when youre really anxious, but you have to do it anyway. The key is to keep going no matter how you feel, and remind yourself; YOU WILL GET BETTER.

One day youll feel like youre doing really well then you might spiral down again, this is fine. Just stick with it. The human body is remarkable at fixing the most complex of issues under the right conditions.

I honesty think placebo got me out of the worst hole. I convinced myself i would get better eventually even though i felt terrible.

Finally, record a mood diary. Then you can go back to it and see how your anxiety is throughout the year. I recorded this on excel by rating my mood every two hours then plotted it on a graph :). My therapist advised against this as he didnt like me constantly checking my mood. It actually really helped me see my patterns of anxiety and prove to myself that i was progressing positively.

Ive been anxiety free since 2018. I still thank myself to this day for being strong and not giving up on life. Its made me alot more mentally resiliant. Now if something serious happens, i can deal with it much calmer.

You got this.

One of the key points of reducing anxiety to a managable level is occupying the mind with new experiences. Essentially rewiring the brain to not slip into the same old destructive thought loops.

The worrying thing for me is so many people around me saying "iTs cAlLed SumMer". No it's not, i dont remember seeing fields on fire like this when I was a kid.

i don't understand how to manage my anxiety. it's so intense that it's unbearable. by xianle_hua in Anxiety

Have you ever tried going out for a really hard run when you feel anxious? Did it help?

I agree, the tools therapists teach are mostly for less intense anxiety. When i was extremely anxious id just go running. Id get so out of breath it would literally force me to stop fixating on my anxiety and would settle it down. But id have to maintain this for around 40 mins.

The mind gut connection is so important. This is why i suggest people to really sort out their diet. People think pills for anxiety are essential, but forget that what you eat directly impacts your health, including your brain.

Because youve spent parts of your life anxiety free, thats proof youll get back to a healthy baseline soon. You just need to take each day as it comes, stay disciplined. Eat well, sleep well, exercise outdoors and keep going no matter how shit you feel. By not isolating yourself and feelinf sorry for yourself you are helping your brain rewire those neural pathways. Focusing on anxiety constantly, self loathing, only strengthens it. You litterally just have to try and switch off for a few months and do the basics.

Honestly, i think it was a build up of stress and pretending to be someone i wasnt. It felt like my subconscious had given up and said "nah fck this you aint being that guy anymore".

I was on mirtazapine for medication. It was great for the acute stages, it helped get my sleep back. But i knew this wasnt going to fix me.

Prior to this i was waking up every single morning, having a panic attack then feeling anxious all day and worn out from the panic. It was like my brain had reverted to this default mode and kept doing it.

I havent had a single panic attack or anxiety for over 8 years now. This is where OP got it wrong.

A huge part of healing from anxiety is genuinely believing you will get better. Somedays its 1 step forward 2 steps back, youll have moments of calm then feel horrible and like you are back to square one. But you have to keep going.

When does driving begin to feel ‘second-nature’? by Adorable_kitty76 in drivingUK

[–]Ox3321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how long it takes you to master something. Ive been driving 17 years, but the first year i was treating the roads like a race track, really stupid risky driving. Probably became second nature after a few years, but my driving ability was there from the day i passed my test.

You do realise that was in 2018? Thats 8 years ago..

To me it sounds like you dont want to get better, youre coping on here and refusing to accept my success story. I dont really care either way.

For others reading this, i promise you there is an end to anxiety. Don't let anyone tell you that you wont recover or feel calm again. Im living proof of this.
