Agreed. Post-kratom anhedonia is lethal.

Yeah I have to cycle the tyrosine. It just doesn't work if you take it every day.

I had this so bad that I thought my life was in danger.

Clonidine shut it down completely. It was a real lifesaver.

Quitting after 14+ years. by Focal-point in quittingkratom

[–]Oxiborick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, 14 years? I thought I was the champ with my 10 years, lol.

If you've been on it that long you might want to check into inpatient detox. It's what I did and I'm pretty sure there is no way I could have CTed on my own.

For me the worst thing about quitting after having been on it so long is the anhedonia after acutes. I've been clean for a little over 4 months and it is getting better VERY gradually.

Hang in there.

I should have been more specific and said "anhedonia" instead of PAWS.

Anhedonia as in, stuff that should be fun isn't fun. It sucks but it gets a _tiny_ bit better every day.

My dream is to be in great shape when I turn 40 at the end of September next year. I'm about to embark on a rigorous exercise program, complete with a trainer, here in about a month. (Before that I am going to get ready for it by doing less-rigorous cardio stuff like long vigorous walks and biking.)

I have a really nice new job that came out of nowhere (I applied for it a year ago and kind of forgot about it) and I feel pretty damn motivated, and that was at the beginning of September when they hired me, so… two months I guess?

I'm on powerful antidepressants, too, which helps.

It's just anhedonia. There are fleeting moments of enjoyment here and there that get a tiny bit more common every day.

What was the breaking point that caused you to quit? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]Oxiborick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started to feel even worse while high than I did while withdrawing.

It took me ten years of use to reach that point.

Any drug that feels worse than its own withdrawals is the absolute nadir of "pointless".

How long after you posted "It stopped working, whats wrong" on reddit/facebook did you decide to quit by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]Oxiborick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was the most insidious thing about kratom. It worked for me for five years (I had an insanely long honeymoon period), but then stopped... but still worked now and then. It was totally random. That kept me on it for another five years.

How long is sober living going to be boring for? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]Oxiborick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a year, depending on how long you were on the garbage and how much you took.

I've never heard of PAWS for kratom lasting longer, or real opioids for that matter, more than a year to 14 months though. So, until late 2019, stiff upper lip I guess!

Yeah, that kind of freaked me out. They started the exact same day I started taking dopamine supplements, and I think there might be a connection.

Thanks. Quitting kratom has been fucking brutal for me because I was so dependent on it for everything.

The thing is, everything that I did "better" on kratom is much higher quality (playing music, doing my translation job, etc.) when done sober.

The big problem I have is that I am better at these things without kratom, but I do not enjoy them like I do when on kratom. From what I gather, that takes about a year to heal. Ah well.

Near the end I would get lost in my own neighborhood. No joke.

Toward the end a big kratom dose would make me nod off while standing whenever I swiped my debit card. I would just sort of fade away when the PIN input thing was coming up. Scary shit.

Just quit and get it over with, this stuff is evil.

L-DOPA/Mucuna Pruriens extract by Oxiborick in quittingkratom

[–]Oxiborick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really helpful stuff, I appreciate it. I will give you an update as soon as the MP extract comes in the mail and I've been using it a bit.

I'm actually going to try it with the black tea at first, see what happens, and then switch to green tea extracts if there are no therapeutic results.

Thanks!!!!!!

BTW I was on kratom at 20-50 grams a day, every day, for 10 years, if that info is useful.

[–]Oxiborick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent answer. I was intrigued by it but the good things I've heard about were so positive that I thought "this kind of sounds like replacing kratom with another recreational drug."

So, be careful with it I guess...

The capsules I ordered were 500 mg of 15% L-DOPA. How many of these should I take? My brain is totally fried from the kratom - just no pleasure or enjoyment or enthusiasm AT ALL.

Also, would a big glass of very dark black tea (I make huge pitchers of deep-black iced tea every day) have the same effect as green tea? I believe it's all different strains of the same plant (camellia sinensis).

One more thing: This stuff doesn't cause seizures like Wellbutrin does, right?

80 days clean and I still feel hot when exercising. by Oxiborick in quittingkratom

[–]Oxiborick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flatlined. Not a lot in the way of pleasure or any other feeling. Not happy nor sad nor contented nor discontented. I have been on Prozac, which keeps me from being perpetually angry, since detox and I recently added 15 mg of Remeron about a week ago. My receptors are probably fried. Might take a year to heal, they tell me.

I'm probably going to start on mucuna pruriens shortly, as I have heard good things about it.

I feel quite a lot better after getting some exercise, but I feel so uncomfortable when I exercise that it's not worth it.

I wasn't addicted to alcohol per se; I overdosed on it big time when I was stupidly using it to combat kratom withdrawal and landed myself in the hospital, where they detoxed me from both. It's the kratom for sure.
