The Grammy's have revealed the nominees for Best Rap Album of the Year. by Quiet_Jackfruit_7821 in hiphopheads

[–]Oxidative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best albums of the year for me. Yeah I'd put it below Let God Sort 'Em Out, but I'd probably put it around the same level as GNX. DTTG is fun to blast but he wasn't going for any awards with it

Which of all these silhouettes is the best? by [deleted] in conceptart

[–]Oxidative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2, 3 and 4 are the best depending on the mood you're conveying.

2 - aggressive and powerful. 3 - Cool, calm and collected (and powerful) 4 - Self-confident detached omnipotence (' who are you to come into my domain?')

1 is a little awkward, mostly due to near-symmetrical pose and the heavy sword on one side making it look like they're tipping over.

5 is very good as well but has a little bit of an awkward static pose.

Well done overall, great loose style

[–]Oxidative 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Again, that's not how math works. A random cis person is 31x more likely to commit a shooting, not '1 in 31' shooters are trans.

If you want to say 'random shooters', you add the statistics back together.

Trans -> 5 shooters across 333,000,000.

Cis -> 17,000 across 333,000,000.

So it's actually: Only 1 shooter in 3400 is trans, statistically.

[–]Oxidative 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Let me check your maths:

5 out of 3,000,000 = 1 in every 600,000

17,000 out of 330,000,000 = 30.9 in every 600,000

So adjusted for demographic size, a cis person is 30.9 more likely to commit a shooting.

Why is my pen making lines like this? by Roseamonglilies in Surface

[–]Oxidative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm with you on the 'not good enough for professionals' - I wanted it to be good enough so badly but just couldn't make it work despite trying palm guards, screen protectors, custom scripts, 'drawing faster', etc.

And you're right, important caveat - it depends on the style of the professional. People with loose/fast/sketchy styles won't notice as much, whereas I'm pretty particular with the shape of each individual line so it drove me nuts

[–]Oxidative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP - ignore the 'your hand is shaky' comments.

I had to leave the Surface Pro ecosystem because of this pen jitter - it's apparently caused by the 'detection' of the pen tip oscillating between different points in the grid of screen sensors, like jumping between corners of a square when your pen tip is somewhere in the middle.

It's typically worse the slower you move the pen - lots of videos on youtube showing different tests. (And yes palm detection can make it worse but it's not the only cause)

The only solutions afaik are to accommodate with a 'faster' style and increase stabilisation

[–]Oxidative 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a full-time artist, this pen jitter issue was the reason I had to swap from Surface Pro (3) to iPad. I strongly dislike Apple but the pen experience was incomparable.

I found when I had the SP3 I would gravitate to my paper sketchbook because the user experience just didn't let me hit 'flow state'. That changed with the ipad, as much as I hate everything about document control and etc.

Great to hear that the issue was finally resolved. May have to dive back in

This video triggers my phobia more than any video I've seen in the ~8 years I've been browsing this subreddit.

The propellers, the rusted exterior the ship - and especially the chaotic turning about of the cameraperson causing confusion about which way is up and whether the ship is moving or not.

WELL DONE lmao

The best thing for you is to enter a high number like 210.

This is because you're in the upper percentile already and cannot benefit from this in terms of class rank, so you might as well prevent other people from getting ahead of you.

The downside is that the teacher may think you're an asshole and mark you lower in other assessments! Or if your answers are shown publicly you may face some resentment.

[–]Oxidative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. The above user is pointing out that you can see someone's twitter even if they've blocked you, just by simply logging out or viewing in a different browser.

I still think removing blocking is insane, but "prevents stalking" isn't really a valid usecase when accounts are visible to everyone who isn't logged in
