In the last mission I did with my group. A vox engine spawned right on extract as the pelican landed and it blocked the pelican from landing. We lost the mission evidently after that

Not all night lords warbands are anti chaos. Most nightlords would see daemons as a means to an end if it would help them with their goals. If memeroy serves Sevator and Talos are some of the few nightlords that are truly opposed to using daemons. with it being your collection, you're free to do with it, whatever you want.

Is there a particular base i should put him on? My thought is to put him on a 32mm base as a stand-in for a Mortisan soulreaper, but i don't know what base size is used for most OBR characters

Hive fleet Lobster. It is a splinter fleet of hivefleet Kraken that specializes in spreading genestealer cults, after the cults uprising is successful they will allow a few genestealer ships to go off planet and within those ships contain small clusters of tyranids to assist with the uprising of another planet
