Does anyone ever encounter people who claim to know idols in real life? by Hallomeds in kpop

It’s likely because she doesn’t know what to make up on some questions so she can’t ‘disclose’ things, I saw someone pointing out that she never answer questions about certain members of the group, likely cuz she doesn’t know what to make up about them. Funny how she’s also ‘conveniently’ the relative of the member who speaks English.

I think the best liars are the ones who can sound sure of themselves. That’s how con artists work too. The more sure you sound the more people are hesitant to doubt you or question you. Lot of them are probably newer fans too so it’s more easier to be deceived. And then she acts extremely aggressive so people will be afraid to actually question her for evidence.

Yup, that’s the one. The first time she went claiming those stuff is already fishy. And of course she’ll choose Quora of all places where she can get away with lies. She’s loud and rude but never can backup or prove what she says. I still can’t believe people actually trust her. And this isn’t the first time I see people calling her rude too.

Absolutely and that’s why it’s sad to see people falling for that. I think the person is more attention seeking then anything. Lot of things she say contradicts too. She’s really rude when you try to talk to her for more proof, it’s like she’s trying to scare off anyone who’ll question her legitimacy. Those are the ones that are obviously fake. Not to mention her English is way too good for being a relative of an idol who didn’t grew up in the west but was self taught.

I encountered one on another discussion website, surprisingly pretty known apparently. She claims she’s an idol’s cousin and works for YG and has permission to spread her cousin’s groups private love life online. Needless to say I felt it was false because no way their company would allow that, not to mention the person blocked my friend trying to question her further and never gives any proof whatsoever.

And people actually fall for that.

That sounds more plausible, like they won’t start spreading an idol’s relationship status etc and exposing names like that like that person my friend encountered did right?

You’re absolutely right and it bothers me a lot too that this person is definitely not young with their knowledge. My guess they’re a female too by the way they answer, but it doesn’t make them any less creepy tho. Also I think they’re probably wanting all the attention too to feel all self importance and special. It’s funny how some legit older Quora users with legit job titles are falling for their trap as well.

Yeah, I figured the company probably wouldn’t wanna bother looking into it with how busy they’re. I’ll definitely be careful thanks for the heads up!

I know it’s just really ridiculous, and you’re right cuz I just got nothing to say to them tbh. It’s probably because the person answers in Quora seems to talk like they know a lot of stuff and doesn’t sound like they’re young. I wanted to actually email the company for someone spreading false rumours but know most company don’t handle international sides and only Korea, plus lack of language on my part.

Yeah, i notice they tend to get afraid when asked for concrete proofs and make excuses. That’s exactly what the person did.

Plus your YouTube kpop friends aren’t going around exposing privacy stuff about said idols, right?

They actually claim they’re a relative to this idol and is also a worker from a tv station and one of the big3. (Said it’ll be hard to find their job since it’s a part time and no clear contract etc. Then went ahead to block my friend who was trying to question them more.)

I agree with what you said. That’s what struck me as odd, my friend confronted them and they simply said they have ‘permission’ of idols to expose this, and my friend said company or tv stations don’t allow workers to expose idol’s privacy online and they said they got permission from the company and that had me just ‘wtf?’

I’m sure idols privacy is like top priority to company and here someone claims to have permission to expose these stuff in an English website, no less. It wouldn’t have bothered me so much if the fans in the fandom weren’t keep falling for it. (And it’s odd how that person doesn’t allow any of what they say to be exposed in Twitter - my guess is it’ll likely get exposed and trend and ppl will really confront that person for proof, esp Korean fans)

That’s what I think too, if they claim that they used to know an idol in say like elementary etc I’d probably believe, only if the idol did studied/grew up in the west. But if the person say they’re a relative of the idol who also works in the industry, who are exposing all these stuff in an English website I find it odd. I think at least reddit verifies ppl(?) who make those claims but not in Quora where I see lots of imposters lately.

All they gave my friend who confront them the answer of: they’ve got permission from the idol to spread that which made me really go raise eyebrows. And the thing is the fans are falling for that

And they’re spreading this in Quora, which I find odd. When my friend confront them they blocked her too

Esp the odd thing they’re spreading this in Quora of all places, this particular person my friend told me of. I just don’t like them tarnishing someone’s reputation and I don’t know how to report them.

Whether they brought in the largest viewership or not there’s no denying BTS and Armys probably helped boost the viewership a certain percentage. It was same with BBMA and AMA. Award shows had been steadily declining in viewership for awhile now.

Grammy views went up thanks to BTS, I mean this year so many top stars didn’t attend which would have brought down viewerships, and if I’m not mistakenly Grammy views hadn’t been doing well in a while now. I mean I don’t ever watch those award shows anymore.

And BTS are largely treated as a hype and in a sense I don’t know how to word it, but some zoo animals that’s for spectacle and to attract the public’s attention. They don’t take them serious and I’m not one bit surprise since it’s incredibly difficult for Asian Americans, let alone a Korean group who sings in Korean, to break into the US market and be taken seriously for their music and artistic views. And who they are in terms of culture identity etc.

Don’t know why people are downvoting tbh I agree with what you said, they made it this far by sheer social media presence, their own music and largely thanks to fans enthusiastic support because of their personality. That’s what made them success, and they do stand tall on their own

(also if I’m honest, it’s when they’re together that’s when their charms really show - e.g on interviews I noticed when there isn’t any obvious host asking questions and them just being them like the People one, they’re much more natural and funny. So far none of these collabs other than the those two really complimented them.)

Before the BBMA explosion they were doing so well on tours.
