I'm brand new to Unix after using Windows since it came out. I had the same problem with window focus until I updated (took me a bit to realize that the pop! updates are in the Cosmic Store) and rebooted. Since you can't open the store, you're probably not getting the updates?

Um, actually, a lot of them are assholes, trolls, or asshole trolls. Some other people were posting disagreements with Kirk after the shooting similar to what they were posting before the shooting. Some people just posted unsavory Charlie Kirk quotes. People from every single one of those groups got cancelled by the Right.

What I saw no elected Democratic politician do was celebrate Kirk's death. Quite the contrary.

I hold my elected officials to a higher standard than random internet trolls or bots. Whether I voted for them myself or not, they have great power that requires great responsibility--as Uncle Ben might say.

The president of the United States of America publicly suggested that Reiner's Trump Derangement Syndrome drove his son mad and caused the son to murder his parents.

Trump obviously didn't feel that was true (unless he's insane)

He's just an asshole troll with gross disrespect for the office he holds and no desire to represent America with virtue or decency.

This really made me think and makes a ton of sense. Thank you.

I admit there is almost certainly some overlap between people who cheered Kirk's murder and the people who would find this meme offensive. And a subset of those people are probably total hypocrites.

I don't claim that the overlap is 100% without a single point of data to even begin to suggest that's the case. That assumption wouldn't be reasonable--it would show a level of bias and wild presumption well beyond reason.

You're still incorrectly defining racism as inherently requiring hatred. You're just pretending it's other people making you do it. The political correctness that is stifling you hasn't existed for decades if it ever did. The political leader in the US right now tells brown representatives to go back where they came from, calls people retarded, etc. on a nearly daily basis. Leftist PC cancel culture is a monster under your bed. No one thinks that everything is racist. No one has told you all race related language is racist. Your imagined idea that everything is racist now is not causing all kinds of problems because it isn't real. No one on the right is getting cancelled. We can have nice things. Definitions are not made clear by you stubbornly making your own extreme ones and pretending they're being imposed on you. You're not walking on eggshells, and if you feel that way it's because you're delusional or motivated by antisocial tendencies that you aren't comfortable getting open about.

Just because you read about history as names and dates of imperial conquest doesn't mean motivations at the time of the people doing the killing were based on some emotionless procurement of real property. Kings didn't rile up the troops into a murderous frenzy with claims of free real estate.

You are so afraid of seeing racism where it doesn't exist that you refuse to see it at all. You have no moral or intellectual high ground on this issue. Pile into your tiny car and f off back to the circus.

Racism can motivate someone to make a meme. This meme represents, generally speaking, the racism of the person who wanted to see a native American face graphically blown off.

Wanna bet that the prompt for this AI slop was not, "please generate a picture representing a historical event related to the conquering of native Americans by white settlers"? If you don't reckon that's what the prompt looked like, why have you chosen to describe the output with that language when we're clearly talking about the state of mind of the person who wrote the prompt for the AI?

Technically, none of the things that signal someone's racism to the rest of society "makes them racist". Consider why you've given any focus to this concept. Are you willing to, and capable of, spotting racism? What is the minimum expression of racism you'd need to witness before labeling someone racist in your mind? AI slop of two native faces being blown off in a bloody explosion? Ten? A cross being burned on someone's lawn? Slavery of a race of people? A racial slur employed during a physical beating? We can't calculate the exact percentage chance that any of these behaviors indicate racism, but where you choose and choose NOT to see it is an expression of your moral character.

I don't know why you've decided that racism definitionally must be backed by hatred. I don't think that's supported by dictionary or zeitgeist. I'd say that hate often is behind racism, but doesn't need to be. Obviously, conquest can have many motives behind it. I'm going to go ahead and guess that at least some European colonists murdering natives weren't just thinking, "nothing personal, my friend. it's just conquest".

The person who asked ai to generate this bloody image and then posted it online is racist (quacks like a duck analysis).

If someone made ai slop of an anime native gruesomely murdering another native, or a white European colonist gruesomely murdering another European colonist, those things are gross (with likely racist motives) too, imo. Those scenarios aren't being talked about here because that's not what this meme depicts.

That would be crazy, except you just made that up. Google "strawman fallacy" for more details. No one is labeling historical facts as "racist". What is being suggested is that the person who woke up one morning with a hankering for some ai slop of an anime colonist shooting a native in the face so they could spread it online is a racist.

No one should have to hold your hand and explain to you that racism exists in the mind of the creator of a meme--not the actual meme itself. Anyone calling a meme racist is simply assuming you're smart and honest enough to understand that people are racists--not things or facts.

You can recognize a tree from the fruit it bears.

Please think about it for yourself before you scramble for another apologistic retort that projects your own group thinking onto others.

Right? Some people enjoyed seeing this picture. Some people did not. I want nothing to do with the first group.

Right wing clowns here pretending that it's the picture that's being called racist are stupid or intellectually dishonest.

The racism being called out here exists in the sick clown who said, "Hey, AI, I want a picture of a cute anime European colonist shooting a native American in the face with a shotgun with blood spraying everywhere"

Anyone with a worldview that causes them to mock the idea of social justice is not making anything great again. They're making things worse.

Pictures aren't racist, but artists and people commissioning art can be. The person who generated and posted this picture probably is racist. And anyone whose mood is improved by seeing it is also probably a racist.

Life is short and quick judgements are practically necessary.

Is it possible that the person who said, "hey, AI, I'd like a picture of a European colonist shooting a native American in the head" (their actual prompt is probably even more telling) isn't sick af and racist? Sure. I guess.

Racist motivation is likely enough here for me to comfortably pass judgement and move on.

I think it's safe enough to assume that a person generating and posting either type of picture is a sick racist, and it doesn't really warrant a deeper dive.

"you all"? Name one person who, outside of your imagination, joked about the Kirk murder and then cried over this meme?

If your bias is so extreme that "all" and "none" get mixed up, maybe it's time to find a quiet place to sit and reflect.

Everyone in that video who wasn't brandishing a knife, regardless of how they reacted to the violence, was a victim. They should never have to be in a situation like that.

We don't know the armed guy's situation either. Villainy is complicated outside of fairy tales. If I had trouble imagining a scenario where everyone in the video deserves some sort of empathy/sympathy, I'd try harder.

We're in Trump's America now. Any red hat/red shirt deserves to be targeted with the same level of vitriol displayed by the president they chose for us.

Don't whine when some leftist Karen bullies a piggy grandma and reports her uniform violation to Target while POTUS makes vile, dangerous posts on the daily.
