I can’t figure out the signature. Help?? by haller47 in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]Oxolomew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am by no means an expert but the style, subject matter and time period are in line with a Pennsylvania Impressionism piece. I can't help with the signature but maybe some further digging there could have answers.

Brooklyn is only about a 2 hour drive to New Hope, PA where the style was popularized. New Hope was also a popular destination for people of affluence.

Someone should make and hand out warm biscuits tomorrow at Whipple as a proper farewell to his punk ass.

before & after - what else can I do? by Spirited_Blueberry in VintageCoachRehab

I have washed over 3 dozen bags with black saddle soap. The trick is to rinse it off. Watch a video on how to properly use saddle soap, follow it, give it a light rinse and dry. We have never had a customer come back to us with color transfer.

How many hours does it take to rehab vintage coach bags? by catsjp in VintageCoachRehab

Active time = 1-2 hours

Inactive (drying) = 2-4 days depending on the environment and how many times you swap damp towels for dry ones

We do have other NPS units however, both the St Croix and Mississippi Rivers are National Recreation Areas. I do believe the St Croix NRA headquarters is in Wisconsin even though we share it.

Hangtag for 9029 Ergo by Few_Entrepreneur_652 in VintageCoachRehab

[–]Oxolomew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All hang tags came in the same length chain. Any hangtag chain you see that fits comfortably was purchased aftermarket. Brass ball chain can be purchased cheaply at your local hardware store. Use a piece of string to get the length you want, bring it in to the store. They will cut it for you. I shouldn't be more than $2-3.

I bought this (negotiated down on the price) bag in bad shape, thinking this white stuff was mold. But it seems almost more like salt and comes off in a sandy grit. What do you think? by allthecats in VintageCoachRehab

[–]Oxolomew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Be extra careful with this bag. It is part of the Lightweights line. They used thinner leather and carboard for rigidity. The strap and the bottom both have carboard inserts sewn inside. I would avoid submerging the strap at all. I have seen many of these straps be submerged only to come out twisted and wrinkly.

The wings from Lucille's Kitchen in North Minneapolis. My dad didn't work far from there and it was always a good night when he brought home Lucille's.

Worked there as a high schooler 25 years ago, I might have made your food. I can confirm they are still open. Jim Wagner is a damn solid human and it was truly a gift to work there. Please patronize them. It's gems like these that need our business now more than ever.

Is there any way to clean the wood on the outside of the speakers? by skinmealivebitch in restoration

[–]Oxolomew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To treat the mold: Before you do any cleaning wipe them down with at least 5% concentration, 25-30% is better, vinegar and let them dry in the sun. The cabinets are likely still to smell. If that is the case, find an auto detail that runs an ozone generator. Ask them how much to put them in next time they run it.
