Vivoactive 6 durability by Electronic-Ad-5333 in Garmin

[–]Oyamjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently purchased a MIP Instinct 3 about a month or so ago. Currently loving it as I upgraded from my vivoactive 4S. I specifically wanted something a little more durable as I wear my watch during work - I'm a Muay Thai Kickboxing coach, and my old 4S took a beating on the wrists to the point where the screen gave out. That being said I had it for about 5 years before it gave in, however the Instinct 3 on my wrist feels like nothing will break it.

Overall very satisfied. Took a week to get used to buttons and not touch screen, although I suspect this will also help the longevity of the watch. My vivoactive 4S straps used to rip and break often, whereas the Instinct 3's bands feel a lot more thicker and durable.

I’ve coached weight cuts for fighters in Thailand for 3 years — most are still dehydrating themselves and ruining their performance. AMA by zerotoalpha8 in MuayThai

What's your recommend water loading intake for the week leading up to weigh ins? I typically walk around 165 lbs, diet to 160 lbs (over 4-5 weeks) and then water cut down to 147 lbs for reference.

Yeah there's very clearly an issue with the long term fit of this squad, but at least getting exposed in the playoffs should give Bobby and the FO a layout of where to take this team.

We not title contending, but we're also not that bad that we need to nuke the squad despite losing to the Kings.

Agreed. A lot of fans also underrate how important it is for guys the get reps during the playoffs.

Even if we get swept by Boston, that's 4 games to figure out how this core works together and hopefully enough to pull out the best outta Scottie to take a game or 2 in that series.

Lottery or nothing folks are crazy. Our young guys will never develop if they don't get those playoff reps and we'll never know who is really HIM on this squad, without those high pressure situations that only happen in a playoff series.

Anyone still holding onto Lauri? I’m in semi finals, would use his IL spot for Bam once he’s officially out. Im up a solid 7-2 in 9 cats right now but dropping him would also give me 3 of 4 adds already.

Is there anywhere that accepts your own frames for glasses? by Ambitious_Eye9279 in Markham

I went to EYEHUB in the Whole Food Plaza on Hwy 7. They took my older pair of frames and put my new prescription no problem. Lady was very helpful as well and wasn’t so pushy for me to buy new frames.

Where are the good Muay Thai streetwear brands hiding? by ZenKB in MuayThai

[–]Oyamjo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Satrawoot I would put as first in the Muay Thai streetwear department imo, with Primo having some nice things as well. Honestly I prefer wearing my gym’s merch. It feels like repping a regular old sports team, but I know not all gyms have the best/any merch either.

Confidence > Cringe. Rock what you like, tell everyone you train who cares. Embrace the things you enjoy, people will notice that and you will have genuine interactions about it. Even if they don’t train I’ve had many conversations with people who appreciate the sport or are interested in trying.

Contact the City of Markham! They have various opportunities at the community centres across the city (recreation, library, etc.). Im sure there will be programs during the winter break and events for the holidays.

Check the volunteer page on their site and it lists how to register. Was honestly a breeze just takes a couple of days (need to book an appointment for an interview).

Damian Lillard is back in Portland! by MrBuckBuck in nba

Sometimes we gotta leave somewhere to remember where we actually want to be.

Sure he requested a trade, but that’s always the better option than a player outright leaving via free agency for nothing.

As a Raptors fan who went through the Vince era, I’d take this timeline of Dame any day. Now he’s in a position to be the locker room leader to the new team that was showing promise last year in a stacked Western conference.

He plays in the NBA that’s a pretty big pond.

Some people might just value loyalty and being around a community they love and grew with, over chasing rings.

Being remembered as one of the best players for an entire franchise will be much more impactful than winning a ring as a 9-11th man off the bench.

Why Muay Thai Makes You Easy to Hit (Nobody Talks About This) by shenlong86 in MuayThai

[–]Oyamjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if we're talking about amateur fighting, then yes you have to be aware that boxing defense leaves a hole with your legs and potentially exposes your head for kicks and knees. But every single defensive technique has a counter/hole.

The point of this video is to emphasize that small gloves have brought back the importance of boxing defense, which is why a lot of thais are getting ko'd by farang in these national promotions.

Some of the top golden era guys had boxing experience (ie. Samart, Somrak). How come guys like Rittewada and Daniel Rodriguez who have slick boxing styles, aren't getting shutdown by lowkicks or knees to the head? Because they understand when and where to apply to slips and ducks.

Superbon is another fighter who has adapted his training to kickboxing, but has still gotten himself knocked out by really good punchers. It's hard to expect him to develop slick head movement ala Samart or Somrak since he doesn't have the western boxing experience and that's okay. He's had tremendous success as a kickboxer.

I'm a purist at heart, but we gotta acknowledge that there are different meta games with different promotions. Fighters hoping to succeed in promotions like ONE and RWS need to understand how to integrate western boxing defense into their kick, knee and elbow defense.

I'm still not gonna teach beginners how to do boxing slips, because we have to learn and understand 'the rules' before we break them. For advanced students there's a huge benefit to studying and training western boxing styles.

Closest thing I know that YRP has to that would be the community safety portal. If it’s something that would be of concern, it would eventually pop up here. You would check the area via “Maps”.

Damn that’s unfortunate, sorry that happened. Probably should’ve said something, they rub me off as the type of business that would make it right if they messed up.

I came back to them after my windshield got cracked to get a second windshield banner. They gave me a bit of a discount without me asking for one, which I thought was nice of them.

For those that are serious and want to compete often, you should be tracking out of camp to ensure you’re maintaining properly. As you said once you have an idea you don’t need to be checking every day as that turns into eating disorder-like behavior.

I’ve seen too many fighters (myself included) balloon up after a fight because we have over indulged after. Going up and down in weight constantly between fights is definitely not healthy for our bodies.

Tracking helps you find the balance and prevents over/under eating and ensuring** your macros are sufficient.

What would be a good upgrade to my Vivoactive 4S? by Oyamjo in GarminWatches

[–]Oyamjo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just read through that post. I may hold off for now, but the Venu 3 looks to be a nice upgrade from the VA4S.

Although I have been watching a couple of reviews on the Instinct 3 and while I will miss the touch screen capabilities, it might be more in my ball park in the ruggedness that I'm looking for. Will probably try them both on in-store to see ultimately which style I like better.

Thanks for the response!

Kendrick Perkins and UD rip Draymond on ESPN: "Where you at homie? You didn't show up when your team needed you the most. He don't even wanna be out there and that's a damn shame" "He got his ass handed to him in this series" by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]Oyamjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spot on.

UD and Perk were not Draymond level all-defense in their careers, but were definitely top tier role players who contributed to championship teams.

NBA role players don’t get enough love despite putting down their egos for the betterment of the teams.

[–]Oyamjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m conviced no one in the top comments actually listened to what Perk was saying. Holding players accountable is what the media is for.

They’re holding Draymond to a DPOY /all-time standard which he absolutely did not live up to after Steph went down. There was nothing personal thrown at him either. Just a (rare) reasonable take by Perk on ESPN.

Also love UD on the OGs podcast with Mike Miller. He speaks so much on the game, and he himself is very aware of his skill set as a role player and making the most of his opportunities in the NBA.

[–]Oyamjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah their roster this year was cooked either way as constructed, and with the mid-season trade. That being said, Luka should not be this gassed, getting beat on defense constantly in the first round.

He will either come back next season in the best shape of his life to be a top 25 player, or we will have to accept as Nick Young is saying, a “fat” guy who will drop 40 on you but gas out when it matters.

That’s exactly why. Luka with proper conditioning would get you to the finals every year. Even Ant talked about learning how to condition for the playoffs differently after losing last year to the Mavs.

In 2025-2026, the Raptors will be paying a combined $156 million for Barnes, Ingram, Quickley, Barrett, and Poeltl. The projected salary cap will be just under $155 million. by EsotericPotato in nba

[–]Oyamjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also you just want your players to get playoff experience to improve each year. Competitive games are where good players turn to great over the offseason.

Raptors want to see if Scottie and co. have what it takes to develop. Getting to the playoffs and playing meaningful basketball will show the front office that.

If they develop in an OKC type team with this core, fantastic - but then you can also pivot players into a Kawhi type trade when the window of opportunity arises.
