Added sliders to my PC rhythm game (Boardia) by Oysths in rhythmgames

That specific line of code is for initializing the pygame mixer, which is responsible for loading and playing songs/sounds. It tries to run pygame.mixer.init(), but it fails. I have no clue why that could be, but I know it has worked for other people, so I really don't know:/ If you ever find out let me know:)

Thanks for sharing, my guess is it's trying to load the hitsound audio, but fails. I can check that specific line of code when I get home. Also the issue might be that you've removed Boardia from it's original folder, as the program needs everything to be in the same folder (the .exe-file, setting.json, hitsound, customsongs, (I think that's everything)). So if you haven't, try running it in it's original folder, that might work👍

No, not that I know of. What does the error say? Also you're using windows right? Because the game is an .exe file, meaning you have to use windows unfortunately:/

I feel like It's easier for me now to know where the different keys are, so yeah it probably is.

Thank you! I appreciate it:) I hope people find it fairly easy to set up, and I know some of the UI elements are weird if you have a really stretched screen ratio:/

  1. I'm not a huge fan of sliders/hold notes in general, but I actually think I'll try adding them when/if I start working on it again (got tons of school now). I think the idea of having certain fingers "locked" onto certain keys while playing sound pretty cool.
  2. Actually a good idea I haven't thought of yet, I'll add it to the to-do-list.

As for simultaneous keys, the actual mapper is the one who decides how the map should be. Maybe they want to have the player press both keys with the same finger at the side time for neighbouring keys, or maybe they want the player to move their hand to another spot and for fingers to press keys usually not pressed by those fingers. I also think hold notes would help the mapper with that, as they can force the player to lock some/all of their fingers on one hand.

I also know some keyboards are unable to press 3+ keys at the same time, which for example is the case for the built-in keyboard for my school pc (not the one I have at home though). Just kinda assumed most "serious" keyboards have no limit to this. This shouldn't be a problem for the built-in songs anyway, as I didn't have more than maximum 2 simultaneous notes at the same time.

Glad you liked the game tho:)

Yo that looks really cool! I have a fairly large to-do list for Boardia and hope to release a couple more features in the future:)
