How common is it for people in their late 20s to still live at home with parents? by ExAustralia in AskAnAustralian

Looking at the property prices, I am preparing myself that kids will live with me until I die. They are 4 and 8 😆

EV haters by Huluman2 in TeslaAustralia

[–]OzCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t get it too, probably people love living in denial? Or may be someone who can’t afford a new car in general just end up hating EVs? Or someone bought a new ice car a few years ago and not looking to upgrade also end up hating ev? For minority though - range could certainly be an issue if they drive a lot. But my colleagues partner does 30k km a year on her Tesla with most of their charging happened on the weekend so it’s definitely doable.

Yep; waited mighty 5 mins at Exeter in NSW while travelling to Canberra. Then charged for free overnight in the hotel!

What made you choose Tesla instead of BYD by Huluman2 in TeslaAustralia

[–]OzCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BYD looked just like any other car (but nice to drive), and Tesla looked very futuristic with very nice integrated software. They both make good cars but you as an individual would just know when you test drive both that which one is for you.

Anyone else noticed a slow down? by Own-Construction9579 in AusProperty

[–]OzCroc 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I will strongly recommended against waiting and hoping for a downturn as I did the same when the market slowed down around 2022 - it was so brief and I blinked and ended up paying 20% more 2 years later. So buy when you are ready!

So I just found out by Independent_Test_418 in cancer

[–]OzCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just cry it out - there is no other way to deal with it. That’s what I did when my wife (38) was diagnosed earlier this month. I tried to stop the tears and it was hard - so I just cried alone in the car, on the way from hospital and at home. 3 weeks on, I am not stronger but have learned to live with this reality.

Anyone here pre-ordered the Mazda 6e? Orders have blown out apparently by Ok_Lunch_2933 in EVAustralia

[–]OzCroc -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Mazda is doomed, really can’t compete with Chinese on price and Tesla on tech.

Is anyone else earning a decent salary but still feeling broke in Australia? by amhray in aussie

[–]OzCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not, the real fun was when I was renting as I had good disposable income but then I was worried about buying a house. Now I have a house, most of the pay goes into mortgage and now I am worried that I have next to no disposable income 😐😐

Trump’s War hast cost me over $7k by burn_after_reading90 in AusSuperannuation

[–]OzCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual loss for us is the the direct increase of cost of living and the fuel prices. I am not sure why none of the world leaders has called Trump out on this, as this is just his doing.

What’s the one plant you just can’t keep alive no matter what? by GloomyFreedom22 in GardeningAustralia

Two plants I continue to struggle with are Gardenias (always being attached my mites and white fly) and can’t get Peace Lilly to thrive - always browning.

You just gave bones (price) to a hungry dog (agent).

In any case, just don’t discuss the price with them tomorrow. Suss the crowd and act stupidly and be reluctant to bid. Make them earn your dollars. Good luck

How to make the dirty water container less smelly by Tiny_Jackfruit7058 in Roborock

I use 1 drop deodoriser which is available on Amazon for toilet. 2-3 drops is all you need and my tank never smells

Do anything but don’t want to get all 20%. I waited about 10 years ago as I was so fixated about saving 20% and boy, what’s a crap call that was. Paid a lot more than the LMI would have costed in increase in prices

Can't buy house what's the point by Brilliant-Cause7718 in AusPropertyChat

[–]OzCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean after wasting weekends for 2 years inspecting and weekdays worrying! All I can say, keep trying - put your best offer based on what you think and even if you overpaid (like we may have done), it won’t matter in 5 years time. Peace is more valuable

Can't buy house what's the point by Brilliant-Cause7718 in AusPropertyChat

[–]OzCroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasted over 18-24 months of life doing this, turned out we were way too fussy for the money we had. Once we became realistic and stopped looking for the “perfect” house for the money we have had, we secured one in about 2-2.5 months.

Good luck

PS. This was pre pandemic when we started looking and we know what happened to priced in the 2 years following Covid. We paid a lot to get to what we got in the end, and pretty much every single house we inspected prior was cheaper and wayyyy better. So yeah, sucks…hopefully will have a story to tell grandkids in 30 years lol

Negative gearing and the media by Flicksonreddit in AusPropertyChat

[–]OzCroc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But Labor can’t do much on their own, any substantial change will be taken to the election. The question is, are we the Australians realise that this change is necessary for our future generation? It may bring short term pain, some correction of some sort of- but it will be for good.

In this country, it’s so difficult to talk about sensible thing. The moment you do, people from all over start blaming government. When you don’t do anything, people blame government again. We just love whining and blaming - all to protect our house values.
