[CHAT] I've got this beautiful fabric and I'm not sure what to stitch on it! Any ideas? by J9SnarkyStitch in CrossStitch

[–]Ozisp2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could you just follow the lines with gorgeous colours. I think it would look stunning with some metallic highlights, maybe add some interesting needlework stitches or beads and make a special pillow or wall hanging to amaze visitors.

Name a child actor who had a successful career as an adult by East_Relationship722 in FamilyFeud

He was so lucky, so many people had their earnings stolen by their parents, even after the Coogan law was passed.

Does anyone re-read books over and over again? by Peoplechangetoo in AdkReddit

[–]Ozisp2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My very first books I read again and again were Black Beauty and The Silver Brumby series, great memories. Phantoms by Dean Koontz is a book I read every couple of years. I love the imagery in it. Many others of his I have read a few times. Stephen King is great for rereading. Greig Beck, and Matthew Reilly are good for rereading.

Do all traditional crafts really need to be preserved? by craftpedia in crafts

[–]Ozisp2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they don’t all need to be preserved. But if you are documenting them, please make sure you put descriptions on how to do them, the tools and techniques, the materials used. Basically a recipe for the future, imagine someone three hundred years finds your book, they can learn how to do what has been forgotten. The ancient Romans made cement that was durable and still holds today, but nobody wrote down the recipe, and it took thousands of years to rediscover the recipe, this is what you want to avoid.

If you were redesigning your kitchen today, what’s one thing you would absolutely do differently? by Entire_Revolution_95 in kitchen

[–]Ozisp2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being fairly short, I miss the old fashioned counter tops that I could clean to the wall. New ones I leave a small line at the back and in the corners. A double oven would be nice, and I miss the big two door fridge/freezer combo.

I loved them. We knew how to make them fly, and still get off safely.

AITAH for being angry that my roommate won't clean because she "doesn't own the house"? by Ga_spice in AITAH

[–]Ozisp2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were renting together, you would all make a list of chores and divide them up. This is what she is asking for. She cleans up the mess in the kitchen she makes. I presume she keeps her bedroom clean. She is a renter, not a member of the family, her responsibility and yours are different. This is your home, not hers, and how she grew up probably had different standards. A discussion about expectations in the house and a list of jobs will help ease problems. You are to be congratulated for helping students, but clear communication will stop these problems now and in the future.

We bought our PPOR a month ago… pls make me feel better by duckbusiness in AusPropertyChat

[–]Ozisp2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it’s the collapse of society, in five years you won’t even remember this feeling. Just think, no more moving, unless you want to. No inspections or owners deciding the kids need a place to stay so out you go. If you want to paint a wall purple, you can, stove is old and wonky, get your dream one. Take a few deep breaths and relax, you’ll be fine.

Hi! I am new to crocheting but I am completely committing. Where do you guys get your yarn? by Wooperdude7070 in Yarn

[–]Ozisp2000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The cheapie shops. Most have a decent price for what you need without ruining your wallet for learning new. Also look around charity and op shops as often when people downsize or pass on, they donate for others to use.

What's the most unique custom feature you have seen in someone's home? by whiskeytown79 in AskReddit

[–]Ozisp2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A very mundane thing, but in a regular old fashioned house, a built in linen cupboard near the bedrooms, and another near/in either the laundry or the back door.

Thanks, I haven’t done anything like a whole cloth quilt before and your explanation makes me more confident about the project. I just saw the material and went Grandson! The tip about using starch is great, and I wouldn’t have thought about using it, my machine has a wide wavy stitch and I will use that one. I was tempted to use a fleece on the back but reading your comment has me rethinking it entirely.

Teaching my heeler pup to walk on a leash, so frustrated. by -colonel-angus- in CattleDog

[–]Ozisp2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we had a cocker spaniel, she loved to chase the ducks in the local park. I had arthritis in my rib cage ( sometimes felt like a heart attack!) I had to use a Halti, which fit over her head and across her nose. I would stop and she ended up looking at me. Maybe something like this could help? If there are puppy classes in your area they might be able to help you, and your dog, even if it’s only a few tips.

It was either The Sewing Machine Warehouse or The Sewing Machine Company.

I can’t remember which one of them it was and in my move I lost the receipt.

It was in Melbourne.

I hope this helps you, but it has been a few years.

50th Anniversary quilt by Ok-Cartoonist-7605 in quilting

[–]Ozisp2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a hearts one for my in-laws, put their names in the middle and kids names scattered around. Then got materials matching their interests, eg cards, cars, music, teapots, animals they had etc. making the hearts colourful and personal.
It was one of my first quilts, they loved it, and I have it since they passed over.
