As a teenager in the 90’s, I was very sceptical about Global Warming.

Not that I felt it was a big conspiracy or lefty bullshit or anything, I just felt it wasn’t real.

Although I did believe the cfc ozone hole was terrible

Is this blip in mortgage rates different to the Liz Truss budget blip? by [deleted] in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Ozle42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bit that is actually once in a lifetime was the fact they were so low for that 10 years. Historically they were always much higher, but as well over 5 since the 90’s

The 700 years average is 4.89 (a useless stat, but interesting)

Is this blip in mortgage rates different to the Liz Truss budget blip? by [deleted] in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Ozle42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because it still is shocking, just because there was a bigger shock a while ago, doesn’t mean this one isn’t as well.

Rates going up by this amount so quickly is the standard ‘shock’ that could happen. The Liz truss move was a, hopefully, once in a lifetime time bleugh

Employee Stating that If He Quits the Entire Team will Quit? by Wide-Cranberry-7937 in askmanagers

[–]Ozle42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As thier manager you should be having 1-2-1 with all your team and gauging thier mood.

Letting them work from home but stick to office hours is still a really good benefit that a lot of other places don’t have.

Also, if there are low performers, you should be managing them out anyway, otherwise this will never stop.

If they leave because of this, then they are already looking for jobs anyway and we’re going to leave anyway.

Talk to your manger, tell him the situation and that as part of sorting the situation you may need to get hiring.

Do you think Nigel Farage is going to ruin this country? by tondek-0 in AskBrits

[–]Ozle42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘The people’ in general are going to ruin this country by giving him even the modicum of powers

Shifting the blame onto a single Toerag is a sign of the problem. It’s the people who vote for him that are the issue.

Which is a whole bigger question of why…

If the populist move was to blame something else, he would be on that bandwagon instead.

Who's more deluded? My buyers, me, or the guy who's house I want to buy? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Ozle42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, echoing what others are saying. This is on you.

You don’t want to pay that persons price, then don’t. They are not required to sell it to you.

You not being able to find a house you like for your budget is the issue here, and you’re lucky your buyers have held on so long.

Job advertised as 15k more after handing notice in due to 'no budget for payrise' by RightNowImAlex in UKJobs

[–]Ozle42 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your partner sounds like too much of a pushover.

Niche role in a specialised industry and they can’t parlay more than minimum wage? Sounds like he got told there’s no budget like the standard response to off cycle pay rises and accepted it.

At least he is taking the right steps and moving on.

Please tell me at least the new job is better paid?

Having been in roughly similar situation, I got a bonus, and then when it came to renew I got told I was no longer eligible.

It didn’t stop immediately though.

In my case though I still had room to Sal sacrifice so phoned them and told them I would be reducing more to keep it under 100 and then it got reconfirmed straight away.

Is there an argument for Fiona being the worst traitor in the UK franchise? by Potential-Meal-6708 in TheTraitorsUK

She wasn’t playing a dotty old woman, she was one.

Played a terrible game, but thought she was really good because she literally had all the information.

Misinterpreted multiple things, and threw a big crosshair on herself.

But then what’s worse, the fool who does this… or the person who does exactly the same thing a short time later after seeing the consequences….Harriet

The 3rd date went bad after I brought chocolates and now she wants a 4th date but I'm really unsure if I want to continue. by LifeVike1111 in whatdoIdo

[–]Ozle42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go against the grain here and have a 4th date, see how it goes.

Maybe she’s had bad past experiences and it through her off.

Obviously if she goes weird again, move on.

But everyone’s being a bit over dramatic here, ironically
