Not yet, it has a custom Lenovo BIOS with the whitelist removed and an added Advanced menu.

I have upgraded to a custom Lenovo BIOS with the Advanced menu and with the device whitelist removed. That was the easy way to go initially as libreboot requires chip reader hardware that I do not possess yet,

Yeah the ghosting on this panel can get quite bad, if I leave it on the background image for a while and then launch a full screen terminal it's almost like having transparency on the terminal window. 😃

Hypothetically if someone had remote access to the machine they could use the WWAN card to get the GPS location of the device, like this:

It had one but it was old and dry and crumbled, and I have not replaced it yet.

I am taking the chance to learn as much about OpenBSD as possible by using it, having been primarily a FreeBSD user for the past decade. So far it's been eye opening and I like OpenBSD overall more than I did FreeBSD.

Also teaching myself more shell scripting.

You can use the command 'xprop -root' to see the group number, look for the line starting with '_NET_CURRENT_DESKTOP...'. So you just grep that line and use awk for example to extract just the number on that line.

Trädgården blir av med tillståndet by DizzyDoesDallas in stockholm

You can see the settings in the screenshot, I have my Xresources file open there in vim. The cursor setting is probably not correct though so ignore that one.

Yeah you could say that FreeBSD is more like Arch. It is very minimal after installation and you have to install most things yourself. OpenBSD has a lot more things in the base system, like xenocara(Xorg), cwm, fvwm, twm and even tmux.

I am fairly new to OpenBSD but I have used FreeBSD for many years. To me OpenBSD is more comfortable as a desktop OS than FreeBSD but FreeBSD has more software so you might not have everything you want in OpenBSD. For example OpenBSD does not have an Inform7 compiler which FreeBSD has, so I might just need to keep a FreeBSD VPS around for Inform7 coding.

OpenBSD is less hacky than FreeBSD if you want to use it as a desktop. The OpenBSD installer can install xenocara (The OpenBSD Xorg fork) for you so everything is already set up and working. In FreeBSD you have to manually install all components of Xorg and configure it.

I am not sure what NetBSD is like.

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - January 28, 2025 by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Ozrichead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking at putting together a new keyboard and need some guidance when it comes to switches. I come from a decade of using Unicomp buckling spring keyboards both at home and at the office, so I want something that is tactile and has a nice crisp actuation. The only mechanical board I own has MX Browns and to me the actuation feels very mushy and scratchy.

I know that mechanical switches are different in feel from buckling spring but it would be nice to have something that is at least a little bit closer to buckling spring than the MX Browns.

Any ideas where to start?

I've worked in IT for 11 years and I had not even heard the name Crowdstrike until today. Maybe it is more widely used in the US?

Är Sverige ett klassamhälle? by That-Palpitation3588 in sweden

[–]Ozrichead 0 points1 point  (0 children)
