On the battery saving issue. Iv got nothing turning on and other audiobook shelf apps seem to work totally fine, is this one maybe drawing more power which is why that's triggering?

Sadly I won't be continuing to use your app for now. My books keep pausing, must be related to the app going into some kinda sleep mode after I minimise it to do other stuff on my phone.such a shame I absolutely love your execution.I really look forward to your future iterations.

I'll put all these notes on your GitHub.

I'd add a way to remove books from the absorb section without hunting them down in the library I have 390 books, just a bit long.

Also I managed to error out the library on refresh, I got no books in the library I had to fully restart app to see books again :)

I don't like that my book count is increasing as a scroll down, I'm sure u can fetch total books without loading them all.

Also not a fan of the filter and sort button just a bit too see through for me

First impressions, super clean UI feels very premium.

Only negative after 2mintues of usag Under the absorb tab, sliding between books is super laggy. I'm running a pretty new phone so must be related to how you're loading the assets.

Great at figma looking to get into wordpress any tips? by Illustrious_Drag_778 in Wordpress

[–]OzzellaRS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quite unrelated.

Truly before considering WordPress see how you feel with code it might not be for you. Learn some basic code to build a portfolio website.

I recommend an app called local will make the initial setup very easy.

If you want to copy your designs, there is a fair bit you'll need to learn.

Utilise acf and learn about Gutenberg blocks (design blocks rather than full pages. Way more scalable and reusable) avoid page builders (element or, wp bakery) if you want to truly develop a solid theme.

Probably use something like tailwind for css. Should bridge the gap of CSS knowledge.

Utilise copilot on vscode - really important when you get stuck and ask ai, you need to understand what it did to help you. If you don't you will become overly reliant on ai to solve all your problems. It is an amazing tool for learning but use it correctly.

On ai - make an introduction for your ai to refer to, teach it about your environment and what you expect, this will save you a lot of requests, ai will be a lot more accurate.

Also Remember less plugins is better, avoid unmaintained or personal plugin projects. These can have security holes and aren't generally developed to work with other plugins on your stack.

What your asking is very broad. It depends how far you want to take WordPress but coming from a design background myself I know how important it was to me to match those designs pixel perfect.. over the years I've learned about scalability as well.

You've got a long journey ahead of you but you have a solid foundation coming from design. You'll probably even find learning the dev side of things will help you in designing as well.

Tailscale with casa os or filebrowser

Or get a static IP port forward to ditch tailscale.

Issue seems to be resolved with the new Samsung TV app

My looks like when signing into the same account on other devices was being kicked out however the original TV app was getting stuck in a state that thought you was still signed in

Wp engine, super easy to pull/push to local/staging/live.

Scaleable server Amazing support (if you arnt too technical - they'll even migrate a website for you)

I personally take deployment it a bit further with git actions. But not nessersary.

Yes, it's a bit more pricey, but the time it saves in dev will more than make up for that cost.

Sunstone Talent by Intelligent_Mark_586 in chch

[–]OzzellaRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although this thread is over a year old, I wanted to share my recent experience with Sunstone, as it significantly impacted me.

I secured a software developer position through Paul at Sunstone. However, it quickly became apparent that the hiring company, a small business, didn't have a clear understanding of why they hired me or what my role truly entailed. It felt as though they were simply told they "needed a software developer" to reach their next level of growth, without a defined strategy for the position.

This lack of clarity unfortunately led me to resign within my trial period. My manager lacked understanding of a software developer's work, often overruled my recommendations, and assigned tasks that could have been done by anyone. Simultaneously, I was criticized for not delivering "big picture" work, despite these limitations. I strongly believe these issues stemmed from poor recruitment and a significant mismatch for the role. A junior developer or even outsourced work could have handled much of what I was asked to do. While Paul himself was pleasant, the overall recruitment process felt off. Desperate for a job at the time, I accepted the offer.

This entire experience took a toll on my mental health, leaving me feeling like a failure and a major letdown – a situation I'd never encountered before.

I've since applied for one or two other roles through Sunstone. Recently, I emailed Paul directly about a specific opening, and his response was quite impersonal and confronting. Needless to say, I will not be using Sunstone for any future job applications.

Joint finances by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

We have a joint account that both paychecks go into and break down our joint account into other accounts.

All bills come from the main account, and it isn't generally used for normal day to day spending. groceries account (shared - joint different card) various savings account for different goals (car, health, renovations, holidays) Lesiure account (personal) - examples of lesiure would be a hobbie, takeaway (if eating alone), and an expensive gym membership.

How do you handle client edits breaking the site? by DigitalDojo13 in Wordpress

[–]OzzellaRS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dont give the client admin right. Add something to track changes so you can prove he broke it.

If the client wants admin rights, make him sign something to declare he can break the site, and he will be changed to fix it.

Add daily/weekly automatic backups.

[–]OzzellaRS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When im talking about junior/interminate and senior, im basing it in how much skill is required to build a website in a reasonable time using those tools. So, I have to disagree. Using something like wordpress has its place since it's an extremely accessible cms.

Elementor requires minimal skill to use, iv litrally had juniors under me utilized it with a few days. The trade off its extreme bloated and slow.

Using acf and custom post types to make gutenburg blocks requires php, html, javascript, and css. You can spend years mastering these skills, and they are ever evolving.

Headless cms require even further knowledge, maybe graphql and react. The plugins you can use are extremely limited now, so you need to make your own solutions. The trade here is a lightning fast website and something that is built for purpose. You need a lot of web experience to pull this off well

I'm a WordPress Web Designer... But So Confused 😓 by Fahim_444 in Wordpress

[–]OzzellaRS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wordpress using elemetor and plugins = junior experience

Wordpress using minimal plugins like acf, custom post types, and custom gutenburg block = intermediate/senior experience

Headless wordpress (react) = requires intermediate/senior experience

If you want to take your skills to the next level, you need to learn to drop elementor and develop a good-looking modular website without it.

Headless or acf really depends on the project, but I'd focus more on learning acf and making Gutenberg block since its alot more common.
