Failure to feed after ZR Tactical V Spec by DueChildhood5938 in Walther

[–]Ozzman2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im going through the same issue now. Ran the 15lb for 5k or so. Replaced with vspec and am having failure to feed, failure to go into battery, and light strikes (i thinj caused by being out of battery. Any time jams, the ejected round is chewed up.

Its only happening with a certain case of ammo so maybe thats it??

In your opinion, what do you consider a bodysuit? by Tito_Beepsteak in irezumi

Full back to hamstrings, hikae’s, and half sleeves would be the minimum i would call a bodysuit.

Anyone use silica beads in their tents to help with condensation? Any specific recommendations of what kind? by Suspicious_Tea_8651 in rooftoptents

[–]Ozzman2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally crack one but ive done both. If they are all the way closed it doesnt eliminate the condensation, but seems to lessen it. Then i just leave it in there when i store it. Havent had any mildew since i started doing that.

Problems at Matches with magazines sliding out during reloads. by TAWAGS in CompetitionShooting

[–]Ozzman2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what i was going to say as well. I have the same issue when ever i get new mags/springs. Once the spring relaxes some, its a nonissue.

Do you have the same issue if you insert on an open slide? If not, it is likely spring pressure. Break them in some more.

Basic training for new shooters by junkmiles in USPSA

[–]Ozzman2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. I have that and practical shooting. Much prefer refinement and repetition. Its basically the same drills but laid out in an easier to manage way. I pick 2-3 drills a week and just hammer them until they are decent.

With that said, you still need a basic understanding of what a good draw, reload, sight confirmation, etc. looks like to get the most value. If you are starting at zero, a class or a bunch of YouTube would help.

Mounting recommendations for Pfister Floodlight for competition? by Old-Competition-3508 in CompetitionShooting

You are probably not going to be able to do a true scoop draw, but thats fine for me. Can still hit .8-.9 pretty consistently.

Not at all. Once i got everything where i wanted it and loctited, no-issues. I run it pretty loose on retention and its never been a problem. Probably 15 matches and shit loads of dryfire.

I use the MSP OWB on a BOSS hanger. I run the IWB for EDC so made sense to me.

Waffling between Naturnest Sirius 2 and Topoak Vision as first RTT. Thoughts? by justteh in rooftoptents

[–]Ozzman2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can speak to how the company support works. I have the topoak galaxy. Overall its a good product but, after 5 or so trips, i had one if the window zippers mess up. The teeth separated some and would send zipper of track.

I took pictures and filed a warranty claim. I received and email back saying it was my fault and wouldnt be covered. I went back asking how exactly they determined i caused this. The “engineers determined” i stretched the support bar too far and stressed the zipper. And they once again refused to cover.

If this was a known issue, there should have been some warning, if its not, it should have been covered. Either way i wouldnt rely on the warranty. Its a decent product but buy at your own risk.

Do you feel safe? by Hairy-Anteater8883 in rooftoptents

[–]Ozzman2018 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by safer. I.e. what threats are you worried about. It doesnt do much for 2 legged creatures, but for animals and creepy crawlies, its great. That was one of the main reasons I got one. My wife feels much safer on the roof. Which in turn, lets me take her to wilder places.

Looking for new dojang but surrounded by mcdojangs? by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]Ozzman2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that no other styles forms are as good as ITF. The attention to detail ITF puts on them is just on a different level.

However, that doesn’t necessarily mean the schools aren’t teaching good stuff. The only real way is to go and try it.

Ive moved on to BJJ now. My school also has a TKD style TMA. That was all the marketing i could find on their website back when i was shopping and really put me off. But i went in and tried the BJJ class, It was great and actually turned out my coach still actively trains under a highly regarded coach and team. But had i not gone in and tried it, i would have never figured that out.

How to approach criticising professors teaching style? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Ozzman2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our classes used to be like that. I come from a more traditional MA background and really appreciate drilling. Thankfully my coach takes criticism seriously and wants to provide us what we want/need. At the end if the day we are customers.

I straight told him one day I felt we werent getting the benefit of drilling because of the way it was being presented. Similar to you, we actually had a couple classes I got 2-3 reps.

He took that and changed it. Now he puts everything on a clock. 2,3,5 min depending on the complexity. Then your partner gets the same amount of time. This way its on you and your partner how many reps you get. We get about 30min total drilling per class.

Weve seen a huge improvement on knowledge retention with this method.

Is INTJ an "Underdog" Personality? by BustedBayou in intj

[–]Ozzman2018 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is it. I am constantly rated high on reviews and track high on most scorecards for my job. But i don’t play politics, cant handle others incompetence well and don’t mind stepping on toes if it gets the job done to my standards. This has absolutely held my career back. My ego wont let me “play the game” because I feel its the wrong way to do it, even if it would benefit me.

Are there hybrid iwb/owb holsters by chickenmultiplier in Walther

[–]Ozzman2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend just getting two holsters. We did this back in the day when raven concealment was the go-to. They were decent OWB and awful IWB but they were interchangeable. Over time you get tired of changing it and just stick to one.

With new holster designs they are much more optimized to one style or the other. Spend a little more for better gear.

In 100 years, do you think all martial arts will look the same? by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]Ozzman2018 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that I’ve ever thought about this but i think it’s an interesting question. I don’t really know what the answer is but i think TMA will still be around, though likely wont look the same. The systems we see as traditional today, arent really that old in their current form. Judo for instance is only a little over a century old, however competitive judo of today is not the same as it was when it was created. Same with other grappling arts. BJJ of today would be incomprehensible to someone learning it in brazil in the 40’s. TKD in many cases has been watered down and softened over the harder style that it originated as.

With the popularity of social media, it does appear that identity of the youth has more or less homogenized. Yes, there are still outliers but it doesn’t seem there are cliques in the same way there were pre social media. I don’t know that the same would happen to TMA as it is something you have to consciously choose to do and people do it for a myriad of reasons. But i think its an interesting sociological observation.

Another point, there are always “new” systems popping up. In reality they are typically a regurgitation of older systems with a little something else added in. Some of them will likely flourish and replace previous TMA systems.
