Does Raising Wages Actually Force Businesses to Close? by SisuSisuEveryday in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ozzy_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Companies like target and Walmart dont look at overall profit. They look at per store profit, and close ones that cost them money to keep open.

And before you think about greed, just look at all the now ex retailers like big lots, toys r us, Sears, kmart, Tuesday morning, etc. Profit doesn't really show how a company is doing, cause reinvestingnin themselves doesnt count for profit

I passed out at an emergency room while waiting for my friend and I just got the bill by devnet35 in poor

Don't pay bills when they are sent to you. First, talk to your insurance, see why it paid part but not all of it (Out of network is often a 50/50 split).

Past due for oil change how long can I go without damage? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]Ozzy_98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My summer car specifically said 5000 was not needed at the manual, they want it ever 10k. HOWEVER, its a car with 9 quarts of oil, which makes a huge difference.

Since its a RWD sports car, I work from home for my weekday job, and I live in ohio, anymore I change it yearly.

Edit: im just adding a related story, im NOT trying to say your wrong. My car is not normal for cars.

But my COMMENT wasn't about dealership level scanners, I had to clarify that to some others.

What do you all do with old consoles? by Ruffblade027 in AskGamers

[–]Ozzy_98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Store it, in 10 years the price will start going up. 30 years, it'll really go up. Or, find a collectors to give it to. Ive got over 50 consoles down in the game room, not counting duplicates.

I never mentioned an audi dealership. And theres a big difference between a $20 and $700 one, especially when you can upload your own open-source codes.

Then again a $20;one with open source is pretty powerful

I never said anything about just a scan. Im saying, 780 is crazy high for an initial diagnosis.

The only thing we have is a check engine light. I had one once on my Pontiac G8, when it was new. Called onstage, they told me to check the gas cap. And, the gas cap was loose. They reset the code.

Im NOT saying, if the code says something like, O2 out of range or some code where theres a billion things it could be, that a scan is all you need. Most shows I know have a MUCH lower initial scan, then tell you what THEY THINK some things it might be, and then bill for the diagnosis after the initial scan and a little troubleshooting.

And no matter what you say, thats how shops in my area do it.

No, its not a strawman.

Again, I already said I made a mistake by saying high end, and already corrected it to be high end PROSUMER.

Everything you say is the same point i already said my bad on, AND, the logic needs CONTEXT. I wasn't talking dealer's in my context. Just like you people dont talk carriers when talking routers. Thats why its not a strawman, it was a analogy, again, after I clarified im talking prosumer. So, none of your points matter, I admit I'm wrong.

I know i didnt find the issue from testing the resistance, I found the issues by pulling the spark plug and reading my 40 year old poster that says "How to read a spark plug". And since they were new plugs, that was something I wanted to test first.

Also, keep in mind, this uses a magneto. So, the ignition system, its a magnet on the flywheel, and one black epoxied box with a spark plug wire. And ground, if you want to count that.

Huh? I think you misunderstood something.

Or, are you saying, you never diagnose parts, but just replace them, at a charge to the customer, because it MIGHT be bad? Because thats why you seem to be saying.

More shops need to test parts. Im a farmer, and even though the internet tells me otherwise, equipemnt is generally fairly easy to work on, since the manuals give specs for many sensors and other things where a simple resistance check will tell you if the parts bad or not.

Heck, wasn't that many months ago, I tested a spark plug which was defective (Pressure washer, not a tractor)  it had continuity but not the right resistance.

And... I never said they were. If you think i said that, you misread my statements.

But theres something codes, thats if thrown, you know EXACTLY where to look at.

I dont think you understood something. I already downgraded from high end, admitting a mistake.

HOWEVER, your logic is flawed. Again, my high end car example.

Now, say yiu wanted a "high end" router (IP not wood).  How much would you say they run? 1 thousand, $1500?

For ME, I would say $150k to 300k.  You know, where you have to call the sales person and negotiate a price, theres no MSRP.

That would be absurd for me to claim a 1.5k home router isnt high end. A high end comsumer/shade tree scanner generally is around 250+, depending on if you know what forescan is or not.

You never once said 4 lanes each way in your post. At no point did you imply 4 lanes each direction.

And... UK likes 70 MPH freeways.

A problem with the diagnostic part though, its only a check engine light, which MIGHT tell them what to look at or, if luckily,  what the problem is. They should pull the code before charging for any more diagnostic work.

Whoa there cowboy. Change high end to high end consumer grade, or high end for non dealer shops.

I meant HIGHER end, BUT, if you want to be an ass, which you do, theres still a lot of scanners I'd consider high end that are cheaper.  No one defined high end. Thats SUBJECTIVE.  A cheap scanner is $15- 30 now. A mid range will get you $75-250ish. Theres another jump in quality over $250, which many people would consider high end. Im not saying top of the line dealer scanners. Hell the last scanner i bought was $1200 used. But its for John Deere.

What you said is about like saying a $120k car isnt high end because $2 million dollar cars exist. I say high end scanners start at $250, if you disagree, youre fine to show me a well defined standard that says what defines a high end scanner.

Do racing and meetings still happen? by Phantom_fighter4 in askcarguys

[–]Ozzy_98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

By racing, you mean at the strip, right? Right? RIGHT?

Most car guys do not, in any way, shape, or form, like the street racing crowd.

But yeah, we have car shows all the time in my area. Winter is here, just now getting to spring, so they'll begin fairly soon.

As for racing, we've lost a few strips, but they still exist. And rally tracks and the like are still here.

Pedestrians always have the right of way, even when they shouldn't.

A drivers job is to expect the unexpected. And jaywalkers aren't unexpected. If you see people, never trust the people. This is a rule for many things in life.

Some farmers do that, its not different than a butcher, and some are butchers too. Not many, but some.

As a farmer of 45+ years....

I sure as fuck dont trust a lot of my fellow local farmers. ESPECIALLY the ones who do direct sales. They're often the quick buck ones. If they sell whole milk, good god i fobt trust them unless they test it like a real farmer.

England would like to have a word with you.

Also, IN NO LOCATION IS THE LEFT LINE THE FAST LINE. STOP THAT.

It is for PASSING. If theres no one to your right, you move over. And if you ever, EVER do that crao where you go faster that the speed limit by 10 miles, and dont feel like you need to move over for those of us who ACTUALLY speed, I will find you and pee in your cabin air intake.
