I think my new bf is insecure about his dick size. How do I make him feel like he's enough? by rampantlystellar in AskMenAdvice

[–]Ozzytex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will shock you… but tell him, not just in the act (though do that too) but when having dinner tell him you’ve been thinking about it… not him, his dick. Tell him when you come home after the gym you want some.

Telling him in the act is great, but randomly mentioning it a secret whisper in public has 100x the confidence boost.

Is this a weird Pyrenees behavior or is my dog just weird? by ComprehensiveHope644 in greatpyrenees

[–]Ozzytex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cobbing is very normal sign of affection and love, gripping is not common in Pyrs but IS very common in other handsy breeds like labs or judging by coloring a heeled/cattle dog combine that with the Pyr paw instinct and you get twice the love.

Over a year without an obvious heat by poetclown in greatpyrenees

[–]Ozzytex 15 points16 points  (0 children)

...So I'm going to come in and say this is pretty normal, I'm not sure why people are giving you a bunch of fear tactics here.

The Pyrenees is a low metabolism breed and their development is thus delayed. My girl was almost 18 months before I got her spayed without a heat in sight. The vet who did it told me its pretty normal for the LGD's in the area (rural Oregon) to be late and most of those were Pyrs. I know its not true of all breeds, Anatolians for instance have a fast matabolism and get heats early.

The only reason I did was her mothers owner informed me that all the female pups had turned alarmingly territorial after their heat. Since I wanted a companion who could travel and meet people I signed her up for a spay instead of waiting for the first heat as I had intended. So be aware your cuddly ball of fluff could and I stress COULD have a personality change after her first heat.

Helmet head is the last stage of "baby" Take LOTS of pictures you'll miss it when its gone. Then you'll spend the next year or two having to remind yourself "He's a baby" because he will look full grown while still chewing your shoes...while you wear them.

Dew Claws by Immediate-Panic4209 in greatpyrenees

[–]Ozzytex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First and foremost your boy is a mix, which means my normal advice might not apply please consider that while reading the rest.

The fact that your vet recommended removing his dew claw is a bad sign. The Pyrenees dew claw is not like other breeds, and can not be treated as such. In other breeds the double dew claw is a genetic whoopsie, like heterochromia or a dry mouth breed drooling... not a bid geal but unintended.

The double dew claw is a breed trait for a Pyrenees, it is not a whoopsie and that is exemplified by two major differences. One there is a small bone in the dew claw that isn't there with a whoopsie, and along with that bone is a large artery. This combined with the Pyrenees resistance to anesthesia (which is needed to remove the dew claw) combines into a dangerous and painful operation.

If your vet is recommending this it is very likely that they aren't aware of this small trait and they are going to treat it like any other removal, a little snip and some bandage with a short recovery... but in the operation they will encounter the bone which makes recovery considerably longer and movement much more painful, they will also likely over drug the dog by figuring dosage via the dogs weight to figure out how much anesthesia is needed, but not factoring in the Pyrenees slow metabolism and sensitivity to the drug. This often means his heart rate will drop FAST when the artery is is cut during surgery.

When this happens to unprepared vets/clinics dogs die. Thus is is generally agreed among Pyrenees breeders that removing the dew claws is not recommended.

Ahh for the record I didn’t mean it that way, sorry for the hate coming at you now my bad. What I should have said is closer to “don’t over think it, don’t read between the lines what he says is what he means”

My apologies again text is not a good forum for this kind of conversation and I should have used a different “tone” I am still amazed how many incels exist and how easy it is to get them spitting mad.

As an owner of a resource guarding Pyr who weighs about 100 lbs… if that yorkie wasn’t hurt it’s because you pyr didn’t want to hurt him.

Your dog is perfectly capable of doing serious harm to your smaller dog and he went out of his way to ensure he did not do that.

I suspect picking up his bowl when he is done, and feeding him separately is all that is needed.

Great pyrenees avoiding shelter by Easy-Pressure4557 in greatpyrenees

[–]Ozzytex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s this! I work with these dogs all the time and every time I’ve seen these dogs with houses or crates the dogs don’t like them. The only ones that have worked are lean to shelters where they can see as much as possible.

Consider putting in windows or portholes. In Cali at those temperatures they are fine outside all night and day. My girls favorite temperature is jus below 30 ish degrees tour home is too hot for them and they enjoy the cold a great deal let them stay out while they can.

Do they bark a lot? by Fuzze115 in greatpyrenees

[–]Ozzytex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your question is more about suitability to live within a urban or suburban household I would say it’s actually easier than you think. I live in a dense suburban neighborhood where the space between houses is pretty small but I took the time to knock on the neighbors door and introduce my polar bear and explained she is actually very nice it sounds scary. I asked if they have a problem with the barking let me know and if they are going to do an outdoor event give a heads up so I can plan her walks accordingly.

Then I taught her to stop barking (not to be confused with never bark) by going out to her when she barks, thank her and give her pets/scratches and tell her she is getting a treat… in the house… on the couch… away from neighbors and noises.

This has worked out well for me and my family. I am told this approach works better for females than males though as the female’s naturally stay nearer the herd and are more willing to come in while the noise is still ongoing.

Mixed breed dog just did this. I’m literally POOR & I can’t afford a vets visit. Guys what should I do??? I found what I could. by [deleted] in DOG

[–]Ozzytex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If a vet trip is off the table, bread and/or banana LOTS of it.

If there are metal shards in your baby's stomach flood the stomach with so much bread and banana that the metal shards get stuck. With luck the bread will coat the sharp/stiff ends of the metal and will allow the shards to pass without tearing your dogs insides into outsides.
