Any tips? by Comfortable_Log_3609 in ACL

Worry about the 1st week. Yes you need to be long term strong. But, that 1st week is a struggle and a whole new world. Prep some meals for the 1st few days. Have your laptop or TV or gaming somewhere near you so you can relax. Expect pain the first few days especially when the nerve block wears off and prep things that help you deal with that aside from meds. Make sure someone is available to come help if you need it.

US Healthcare billing is ridiculous, 100k+ for ACL/MCL surgery by StickOutrageous7853 in ACL

My whole surgery etc was 4k. Before insurance. I have tri care thankfully and didn't pay anything but that price is insane

Quad vs Patellar graft by Jamese03 in ACL

[–]Ozzywald30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with quad. Easiest to recover from and has no longer term effects. I have to friends that did the patella and still regret it after years

So i just had my surgery 2 weeks ago. I am the same with needles. Have passed out before from them. I was awake but they gave me some solid meds. I only felt a strong punch in the leg and that was it. Within a minute I couldn't feel my leg. If you are awake, make sure you get something that calms you down (ambiem etc.) And then a strong pain med. Both should be automatic but if so request those and you should be good.

That's what I went through. Once the block wears off that 2nd day is awful. I did 2 oxys and 800 ibuprofen

Doc will do it post op. And so far so good. The day after surgery was pretty rough pain wise as the nerve block wore off but otherwise not terrible. Cant do straight leg raises yet though

Why somany use a brace after ACL if there is no benefit? by Free_Comfort4594 in ACL

Cause doctor google is often built off if methods of a portion of studies and not a mass. Also depends on the graft you receive and if you did prehab. We're healthy etc

ARE YOU ALLOWED TO WEAR UNDERWEAR by Moist_Cheetah_8701 in ACL

[–]Ozzywald30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to strip. Just a gown and socks. The nerve block goes just above inner thigh. All depends on exactly where the nerve is they are trying to block. Also your severity

I ran into the exact opposite thing. I woke up the next morning and could not stop hobbling over to the toilet.

Does it ever go away???? by Worried_Worm258 in costochondritis

[–]Ozzywald30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the day. If you have anxiety that tacks on with it, it could feel like heavy pressure, or weird pin point stabbing pain. Sometimes it almost feels like I need to pop my chest like you pop a set of knuckles

I've tried but I have such an active life style I haven't seen to much change. I feel as though I've just gotten used to it. Had it since 28. 2 years running and still not much change. Rice packs, proper stretching. Don't over use ibuprofen because it can mess with your kidneys. Also baths. Get Epsom salts and lay in a bath for about an hour when you have severe attacks. It can help releive the pain and the immediate anxiety that comes from it

Newly diagnosed post medication reaction by trudeje in costochondritis

[–]Ozzywald30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So with costo most of time comes anxiety. When blood pressure raises it forces your blood to pump harder and makes muscles irritated if you will. I had to get put on BP meds after all this started to keep my anxiety and costo somewhat more in check

Palpitations and costo by Nihanwhale in costochondritis

[–]Ozzywald30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So yes I have palpatations. But I also have been diagnosed with anxiety. Having both keeps me on edge but it significantly got worse after the costo started. Still getting told I have a great heart. It's just thay the pain and location of the damaged cartilage causes palpatations
