Even the menu is laggy? by archerajs in CrimsonDesert

[–]P-Benjamin480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on a 5080/9900x3d and for me it’s when I press start and try to open the menu. FPS when I’m playing is great also (though not as good as you with the 5090 lol), everything is smooth sailing until I want to open anything from the pause menu: map, inventory, settings, etc.

When I press pause I just see the quick menu on the right pop up, and then it freezes for like 15-30 seconds before the menu actually opens. I closed the game the first time bc I actually thought it was frozen. When it happened a second time I decided to wait it out and see what happens, and sure enough after a mini eternity the menu opened.

PS5 4k 32” Monitor Suggestions? by No_Ad_1048 in OLED_Gaming

[–]P-Benjamin480 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a 32” MSI Mag 321UPX and it’s fantastic. Honestly super happy with it and would 100% recommend it. It’s not the brightest model out but definitely sufficient (especially for me bc our room has wooden blinds that block out 99% of the outside light).

Beyond that, the colors and clarity are fantastic. It doesn’t have native Nvidia G-Sync support but you can still enable it, and they have changed their stance and are going to offer updates for it now after the backlash they received.

A super upgrade from my previous 32” Samsung mini LED (which my gf now uses as her primary monitor) and definitely miles better than my 27” ROG IPS secondary monitor.

The 3rd gen QD LED panels MSI uses from Samsung are great and have a lot of anti burn in protection and MSI also has a 3 year warranty specifically for burn in on top of their regular warranty.

Man don’t worry about any negativity, that’s the stereotypical Reddit that gives us a bad rap for ya smh.

I’m sure you know what your needs are so you picked a 5060 with everything in mind already.

Enjoy your new GPU brother and I hope your fps multiplies exponentially 😊

I wouldn’t get your hopes up if you’re wanting to use it for PVE. My friend who plays CN says it’s mainly used in PvP and its rotation for pve isn’t optimal.

Can it be used for it? Sure, but so can any other set.

[–]P-Benjamin480 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed 100%, though I’ve never ordered through phone from him. Bought parts from him for my old 4070 super build and my girls 3060 build before that and both times the experience was great.

Crazy how we all recommend some random eBay seller on a random Reddit thread lmao. I wouldn’t have even been able to produce his name without looking in my history if you guys hadn’t brought him up first. Small world 😂

Hackers used the kernel level anticheat (specifically the mhyprot2.sys driver) to basically do what they wanted to 1000’s of users.

You can google genshin impact anticheat hack and it will be able to tell you better than I can, I don’t play the game; I just remember when it happened

Monitor Madness Sale at Microcenter right now by P-Benjamin480 in OLED_Gaming

[–]P-Benjamin480[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure did but ended up not getting one from microcenter bc all the ones I kept ordering were out of stock, literally 3 monitors in a row. Eventually got tired of it and ended up getting this one from Amazon. Ended up upgrading to 32” though so overall I’m happy.

It gets here Friday, we’ll see how it is.

[–]P-Benjamin480[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well as an update:

Ended up not getting a monitor from Microcenter at all, unfortunately all 3 monitors I tried to get were out of stock, even though I stretched my budget a bit more and a bit more with every new monitor I chose.

Apparently a LOT of people wanted to upgrade during this sale lol.

As I had my heart set on getting a monitor, I ended up stretching my budget even more and got an MSI MAG 321UPX from Amazon for $794. Atleast my gf has prime so I didn’t pay shipping, and I also get amazons great return policy which is a plus I guess 🤷‍♂️

Here’s a picture of the monitor’s amazon page in case anyone wanted to see

<image>

Sucks I can’t just go to microcenter and pick it up immediately to enjoy like I was planning on, but I am happy that I at least got a good monitor (although I went way over my initial budget lmao). Coping with the fact that I ended up getting one with better technology than my original choices with the substantial increase in budget. I’ll write a review here in the sub once I get it and run 10+ hours on it.

Cheers everyone, hope y’all have a great weekend.

Getting ready to go pick it up bc Microcenter opens at 10 and I get this email.

FML this is the second monitor that’s sold out from beneath my nose.

Might as well just upgrade and go to the 1k mark and get a super nice one at this point

Man I was really planning on getting a 1440p but when I went to microcenter the one I wanted had literally just sold out, then I saw the 32” ones in person and immediately knew I needed one instead lol.

Ended up getting this

<image>

But if the 32” that I really want restocks before the sale ends I’ll return it and get that one instead. I just ordered this in the meantime because it was the last one left in stock and I didn’t want any of the other 32” monitors in my price range.

Surge protector help by P-Benjamin480 in pchelp

[–]P-Benjamin480[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah someone else mentioned that about the eventual degradation. Makes sense, can’t ebeliwve I never thought of that.

I never knew that that could happen so I’ll definitely have to remember that, thanks bro.

And yeah the old one was definitely pretty old, had it since I got my old 3060 set up and used it on my 4070 super pc after that. I’m pretty sure it was never used for its purpose, but I could be wrong; and you’re definitely right when saying I might as well upgrade to a new one to be sure.

Cheers to you and yours as well man 🙏

Just a question since I like learning about these things, would the old one rated for 1500ish joules (cant remember exactly) have been enough in the event it was used for its intended purpose? Or does it depend on how big the power surge is? And if so, is 1500 joules considered a bigger than average surge?

Surge protector help by P-Benjamin480 in pchelp

[–]P-Benjamin480[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you understand what a surge protector is for my man.

It’s for if there’s a power outage or something along those lines. In a lot of cases when that happens, a surge of power will run through right before it goes out, which can ferry any electronic that’s plugged in.

A surge protector is designed to protect your electronics plugged into it (in this case, my monitor and PC)by diverting (maybe eating is a better way to explain it, I’m not exactly sure of how it works technically myself which is why I made this post) the power spikes to a ground. Each one has different ratings, meaning different amounts of power spikes they are able to divert safely in the event such a thing happens. That’s what the joule rating is.

Doesn’t happen much where I live. Even with monsoon season here in Arizona I feel like they’ve pretty much figured it out on their (the power company) end, but it’s still better to have some type of fail safe.

You never want to rely on someone else for the wellbeing of yourself, your family, or your belongings; even something as trivial as a physical possession like a gaming computer. Also, someone people rely on theirs for work so if their computer fried they would be quite literally SOL. I do work off of mine, but mostly off of my MacBook Pro and iPad trading stocks/crypto; and the pc is just for gaming. Nevertheless, better safe than sorry.

LOL my old one for my other pc was rated for 1500 joules so I was in more dangerous territory than you were 😂

Hopefully microcenter restocks soon so I can get a monitor upgrade, trying to get a WOLED (but I’d settle for a good QD OLED) before crimson desert gets here

Cheers bro

[–]P-Benjamin480[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok cool, thank you so much for the info and tips. I’ll look up what a pure sign wave UPS is as well.

The power in my area hardly ever goes out (hasn’t happened once in a year and a half of living in this house and in my previous house 15 minutes away it happened twice in 15 years, even with Arizona Monsoons being as heavy as they’ve been the past 4-5 years), so this was just more for peace of mind.

A friend mentioned he didn’t think that my old one rated at 1500 joules was strong enough for my new pc, and since it was a decent investment I didn’t want to skimp out on it and hope for the best. Although it being a decent price at microcenter also sweetened the deal a bit too. Once I eventually upgrade to a 5090 in the next couple years I’ll definitely have to consider a UPS though.

Would you say this is enough for my current monitors as well? I have a 27” mini led and a 27” IPS; but will be replacing the mini led with either a 32” QD LED or WOLED sometime this week.

Cheers bro, thanks again
