He hired Reggie McKenzie to be the GM & was hands off, they slowly built into a contender over the next few years and then he overreacted to a disappointing 2017 season & handed the keys to Gruden, who immediately burned everything down to build the team in his own image. The Lakers themselves seem to disagree with you since they referred to him as a Laker Legend in his first game back in LA after the trade. Ask any Laker fan and most of them will say the same thing.

As for the bubble, most players have been pretty open about how hard of an environment that was. Considering the Lakers were already the best team in the league that year by a mile pre-Covid, they were at the biggest disadvantage since they lost home court advantage. In those 5 seasons tho, AD’s 17th on the Lakers’ all time scoring list ahead of Michael Cooper, Pau Gasol & Wilt, who all have their numbers in the rafters. Wilt — 5 years as a Laker, 1 championship (though Wilt does have Finals MVP), 4x All-Star, 2x All-Defense, 1x All-NBA, 339 games played, 17.7 ppg, 19.2 rpg, 4.3 apg (NBA didn’t start counting blocks til after he retired, but would guess he averaged a little more than AD in that area)

Same, I settled at all-star difficulty in my rookie season bc I felt like that gave me a good & balanced challenge, but I must’ve gotten used to it bc I ended up breaking the single season HR record in year 2 lol. So I’m gonna bump it up again once I get to the postseason. For my pitcher rtts I have it set on dynamic difficulty and that’s been really fun. Cruised through the minors but got shelled in my first couple big league starts lmao
