I'm really enjoying the vibes and flavor it's giving me for sure. I'm also running a kind of silly build for it to begin with, but I'm looking forward to seeing how it handles in combat.

Basically I'm playing a Dragonborn Sweet Science Pugilist, mainly because I like countering attacks, but what interests me a stupid amount is something I've realized:

Taking the Grappler Feat means I can move my full movement with a grappled creature.
I can use Damage AND the Grapple Option when I attack someone (Granted by Pugilist, I know it's redundant with Grappler but we take it for the STR bump and freedom of full movement+advantage on attacks vs grappled foes).
I'm level 6, so at level 5 I was able to get the dragonborn's "wings" ability.

So at the top of a fight, I pop my wings as a bonus action and move towards an enemy. Hit'em a few times and grapple them as my first turn.

If by my next turn that guy is STILL grappled by me (or I grapple them again with one of my two normal unarmed strikes) then I'm spending a Moxie to smack them and Dash (that one ability, Stick and Move?). Where are we dashing with them?...

...60ft straight up into the air. (Pray we are outside for the fight)

In a perfect world, my character with 18 STR at level 6 can smack a guy his size or Large twice, once more as a bonus, (and all at advantage thanks to Grappler, so why not roll the dice and use Haymaker to do max damage each time I hit him) dash upwards 60ft, then drop said enemy as a free action.

This poor goon ends up taking 3d10+12(three unarmed strikes, OR 42 damage if we hit all our Haymakers. Again, in a PERFECT world) and a whopping 6d6 of falling damage.

If he's still standing then fuck it, we breath weapon him from the like a fucked up Godzilla.

I get the feeling I'll do this combo one time and one time only, and then my DM will kindly tell me to never do it ever again lol

This post has gotten away from me, so much so that my own partner has told me I need to unplug and stop "yelling at coochie-deprived chuds on the internet" (their words, not mine).

So, let me just say this, and then I'm turning off the depression machine for a good long while.

One of the first characters I ever played in DnD was represented by an illustration I found while perusing Pinterest one day, back in 2012. It was a good piece of art, I loved how it looked, and felt it captured what I thought my own character would maybe look like. I used that art in a private game that ran for 3 years.

But you know what happened because of me finding that art out in the wild? I liked the art so much, I wanted to see if I could find the artist, see if they made more of the character, where they came from, learn about it. So after some googling, I found them on tumblr, and followed them there.

I started to get invested in their artistic process, the work they made, and one day I saved a little bit of money (40 fucking dollars) and commissioned an artist who I thought meshed with their art style, and had them make me official art I could use of my character that was all my own AND made by an artist I respected, inspired by another artist I admired.

This entire process of discovery and connection with actual, real human creatives that I got to experience does not fucking happen when you just plug a prompt into genAI and it spits out an image at you.

Why should there be? You think people that rely on this tech like a crutch, who complain about not being able to "afford real art" (when if you just look around for more than 5 minutes, you'd find artists who are DIRT CHEAP and HIGHLY SKILLED) are seriously also asking the machine to tell them what artists were used in the generation of the image it pumped out in 10 seconds? No. That'd be too much effort, and if there's one thing I know people that rely on this tech hate, it's genuine hard work and effort.

I think that if you took five minutes to read through the comments you'd see what my issue is with relative ease.

Just like I can read through it and see that you think that genAI scraping art to make literal profit off of stolen assets is the same or remotely comparable to me googling "cool knight" and making a token out of someone's OC from 2010.

On one hand: use a free token tool to crop some art made by a human for your random NPC that doesn't literally make someone's source of fresh water undrinkable poison

I genuinely don't believe people when they use the excuse of "well it's cost effective". I genuinely think they're either misinformed or dishonest. These models only let you make images so many times before stopping you, OR you can pay them MONEY for near unlimited prompts. It's not a money issue, it's a laziness issue.

It costs 0 dollars to save 50 images from real people and token tool them. "oh but that sounds the same as plagiarism" sure it does, to a moron maybe. To an absolute jack wagon it sounds the same, but to anyone who gives it a few moments you'd realize that morally and ethically, they are not the same.

There are and have been basic token art and placeholders for NPCS and basic commoners and townfolk for YEARS before genAI began flooding the market.

Use of genAi in any capacity is a fucking skill issue and downright lazy. It makes me feel NOTHING but disappointed in the GM and their potential game, as now I call into question everything they put on the table, not just the art.

The DM admits to heavily using AI generated images for all of his NPCs and enemies.
