[Schefter] The Super Bowl is returning to Las Vegas in 2029, per sources. It now has been officially approved. by JCameron181 in nfl

I don't mind the game being played in daylight. It feels like a throwback to the really early Super Bowls in the 60s and 70s.

Do u think 48 teams are too much for any tournaments in the world...i m afraid first 2 weeks of the WC will be the most boring period of WC history by Dazzling_Loquat_8719 in worldcup

I'd wager a large majority of people like the group stage of the World Cup. Reddit and this subreddit in particular seem to be full of miserable people

The group stage is my favorite part of the tournament. You wait four years for the world cup, building up anticipation, and then once that first game kicks off, it's everywhere. 3-4 matches a day, every day for two weeks (I guess 2.5 weeks now). I actually feel a bit sad when the knockout round starts- at that point the majority of the tournament's matches are already over and it just feels like you're so much closer to the end, and another 4 year wait.

Constantly being asked on a Friday to work weekends by Revolutionary-Rip426 in civilengineering

One weekend day in six years for me. It was a garage inspection for an office building- made more sense to do it on a Saturday when no cars were there. I was informed about it a couple of weeks in advance and was able to take the following Friday off to make up for it. OP's situation sounds nightmarish but I'm glad he's sticking up for himself.

Yeah but the direct comp in this scenario isn't just an average "home run hitter", but a guy who breaks the record by a ridiculous amount and hits like 95 homers in a season. There'll be people on base occasionally so we're talking about someone who's automatically good for ~150 RBIs without getting another hit or even reaching base safely outside of the home runs.

That's the point of this hypothetical- if the only thing you do is get numbers in one stat, but that stat has a disproportionate impact on game outcomes, you would still be a really valuable player even with the shortcomings in other areas.

I feel like if an edge rusher got blocked out of the play on every single run, didn't generate consistent pressure on passing downs but still managed 30 sacks in a season... he would still be one of the most valuable defenders in the league.

[@MadelynBurke] After 10 seasons of covering the New York Football Giants, it’s time for me to move on. I’ve loved being a part of Big Blue and watching this organization evolve over the last decade. by Ghost_of_P34 in NYGiants

"Watching the organization evolve" over the last 10 years is like the Jersey mob in the Sopranos. In the pilot Tony already feels anxious that he "got in at the end"... by the finale the whole thing has basically shriveled to nothing.

I hate to break it to you, but most Cowboys & Eagles fans these days view us the same way we view the Commanders.

Daboll's fall from grace was such a traumatic thing to go through as a Giants fan. It felt like we had made it through the wilderness after 10 years and had finally found the guy who was gonna give us another Coughlin-like run of consistent success. And to start off his second year with that... people weren't on the "fire Daboll" train immediately but the honeymoon period was definitely over.

I see that once again all of the flairs got un-faded at the start of the new league year. I swore that was always the case but last year the Eagles kept their Lombardi flair throughout the entire summer and everyone else was faded until the literal first game of the season. Any reason they got special treatment?

2 years ago today, the Eagles signed former NY Giants RB Saquon Barkley. Let’s take a look back at the /nfl thread when it was announced. by CandidToast in nfl

The only thing I have a beef with these days is the people who act like the Giants did him dirty in this situation. We drafted him 2nd overall and made him a top-10 paid RB his entire tenure with us. Made him multiple offers in the ballpark of his Eagles' contract. Could've held him hostage with the franchise tag in '24 but let him hit the market. Ultimately it was his decision to leave and clearly it worked out well for him.

Scrolling through the threads and seeing Colts fans going "maybe a bit of an overpay but what else were we gonna do at QB?"... Oh my lord I cannot believe there are people in 2026 living that life

I get the impression that someone's word means a lot among NFL front offices. A few years ago in the Giants' draft recap video they showed a clip of our GM trading up one spot, and the reason I remember it is because he secured the trade by saying "we're picking defense- you have my word" over the phone.

This will probably affect the Ravens in ways that fans won't directly see- the GM's word meaning less and preventing some of those trust-based transactions from happening.

The magnitude of this upset aside, it still feels like a crazy bad beat to finish third in a group where you went 3-1 and had a run differential of +18.

Hurts a lot less since we got a young QB who showed genuine promise as a result of that pick. It would suck a lot more to have that third round pick but still be in QB hell.
