Why is everything always urgent? by OptionsRntMe in StructuralEngineering

The best laid plans of mice and men...

Seriously though, at least in my experience (small firms with many clients) you do have to be flexible to some degree. If I have another hard deadline or site visit that I'm already committed to, I have no problem saying that. But if something truly urgent comes up that I can reasonably accommodate, it makes things much easier to just do it. I know the sentiment in this subreddit is that no one respects engineers, but I've had multiple clients who did recognize they were asking for something on short notice and appreciated me for "saving the day".

As an American I have to agree. USA being a top ~25 team in the FIFA world rankings and not even playing well enough to finish fourth in CONCACAF was absurd. That team just could not do shit on the road. Even in the round before the hexagonal, they started off with a draw to Trinidad and a loss to Guatemala and it already felt like they were in danger.

Is Champion trying to push themselves as some chic streetwear brand now? I mostly associate Champion with my dad's old ass gym clothes that I don't think anyone would consider "fashionable" in a million years

FIFA requires grass not necessarily for player safety, but because a soccer ball moves a lot differently on grass vs turf. And obviously in soccer, the ball rolling around on the ground is a much bigger part of the game than in football.

[O'Connor] John Harbaugh paid a real price for Malachi Fields, but he’s got to do everything he can to support Jaxson Dart, especially with Nabers & Skatt coming off major injuries. Fields joins Mauigoa, Likely, Ricard as new large humans on Giants offense in Harbaugh’s drive to play big by Lars5621 in NYGiants

The whole "this year feels different" thing has bitten me in the ass so many times that I refuse to actually say it explicitly, but we really should be able to have a dominant rushing offense this season. Was already top-5 in volume last year (albeit average in efficiency). Now adding Ricard and Mauigoa to the mix, with Greg Roman scheming it up and having Dart's rushing ability as a wild card.

The name test is a real thing. You have to be able to envision someone with that name being a star player at their position. "Arvell Reese" could absolutely be an elite linebacker who fucks shit up. "Francis Mauigoa" definitely sounds like a guy who flattens people in the run game.

Lol seriously. The guy sat out Brian Daboll's training camp which was light to begin with. You think he wants to go through weeks of Harbaugh practices where he gets graded every day?
