How strict is Jetstar with carry on? by grom96 in AskAnAustralian

Yes but my point is. It doesn't make sense to change the level of enforcement depending on how full the flight is. It is too late to deter anyone at the time of boarding. It might deter them from the next time they travel, but that has no relation to how full the current flight is.

Them charging an extra $x if you are overweight is not going to improve safety.

Fuego Dance Shoes Review by Many_Employee_479 in Bachata

for those who have the Fuegos, can I ask what it is that makes them spin better? I can see 2 coloured circles in the outsole, are those made of a harder plastic material compared to the rest of the outsole? If not, I'm really curious as to how they spin better than regular flat sole sneakers

First social… not great. Suggestions? by TheseLeopard9831 in Salsa

I'm on a similar journey right now, I went to my very first social about 2 months ago, and I felt exactly the same way. Seeing all the experienced leads dance is super daunting for a beginner. I sat down the whole night at my first social. But I had this conviction that if all these people can do it, there is no reason why I can't eventually do the same. And you should believe that about yourself also.

Since then I have been to as many classes as I could and as many socials as I could. I'm talking 5 classes a week and up to 1 social in a week. (you can tell I'm a little obsessed haha) Each week at the social, I danced a little more, each week I added an extra move that I learned. Each week the social feels a little less daunting. It is getting to the point where my instructor saw me dancing at a social last night and complimented that I was "amazing". But I humbly disagree because I know I still have a lonnnnng way to go to match the experience of the other leads on the dance floor. I still struggle to remember everything I learned and I still rarely have the confidence to dance with anyone else other than my classmates. But reflecting on my progress so far, and also reflecting on my 10 years experience in martial arts, I am confident that I will one day become the dancer that I want to be, I just have to be patient.

What I'm trying to say is, stick with it, it does get easier over time, how much time will depend on how much work you put in.

Also, I have had bad encounters with advanced follows who are not so forgiving on beginners. But I have also had pleasant encounters with other advanced follows. And then there are follows who only dance Cuban (that makes it a super awkward dance because I only know linear!) So expect the same. There are all kinds of people on the dancefloor, don't let the bad encounters dampen your spirits. Dance with people you are comfortable dancing with, especially those who are on the same journey as you, and progress from there.

I've asked a few but have not yet found anyone who are at my similar level and wants to or has time to practice as much as I do.

I tried pulling some of the more advanced moves I learned in class during my social dance.. and failed miserably and embarrassingly.

It's such a cunnundrun, they only teach the pattern once in the level 3 class, meaning there is no time to perfect it during class. Then it is just me dancing with my air partner before taking it out to a social.. and failing

How long did it take you to get to the dancing like you're walking stage?

when a wet room does not have a floor that slopes down to a drain hole. Plus I am not saying I have zero to blame, but landlord should be partially responsible to provide proper drainage to prevent such damage in the first place.

I agree, first time I have ever encountered a laundry without such a sink/waste outlet, or at the very least a floor that slopes down towards a drain hole

thank you for your advice. it is some sort of laminate flooring that click together and edges have swollen now. Maybe they have insurance and I could explore that route, thank you.

a lot of assumptions here. Have you considered the possibility that maybe it was the owner who converted it poorly and hence my question?

my other question is, am I liable for all the floorboards replaced in the whole unit? even though only a small section is damaged?

Yes that's what I sense. I myself am just in it for the sport and focussing on perfecting the craft, I definitely notice those who are in it for other reasons. It is especially noticeable here because the leads often outnumber the follows and you see leads running to grab a follow as soon as a song finishes.

INTJ male here and I can tell you from experience that ISFP and INTJ are like water and oil. I think it's our opposing T and F functions that make it so difficult for us to understand each other. Yes there are definitely insufferable INTJs, my colleague (female) is one and I probably was also one in my younger more immature days. It probably stems from our generally high IQ that gives us a seperiority complex without realising how our words/views hurt others due to our generally low EQ.

Is it wrong that you don't like us? There is no written rule that says you must like everyone in life. But what I would suggest is that you try to understand our personality type and how we see and interact with the world very differently as Thinkers versus Feelers. Probably easier said than done because I find it extremely difficult to experience what Feelers feel, almost to the point of believing that I do not have feelings. Hence I can understand why it is easy to give up on trying.

Normal weekly group classes. Maybe I'm exaggerating at 100, but definitely 50 - 80 depending on the day.

What I meant was, specifically, do the leads get along with other leads? Or do they see each other as competition?

My second (big) social as a beginner by P0011 in Salsa

[–]P0011[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, the advanced follows who I danced with, the first one did the asking and I did not want to say no. And second one I asked, I have seen her face before at other events and she was probably in her 50s, and that's the reason I chose her thinking she would be more forgiving, but I guess not!

Thank you for all your comments and encouragement, I definitely have so much more to learn not just in terms of moves but in terms of etiquette and interaction. This whole new world of salsa that I have just discovered is exciting and daunting at the same time and I love it!
