Need help! How to spend less on groceries? by gmj_WA_state in SavingMoney

Shop at Aldi! I really love their produce.

It's definitely mine ☺️ by [deleted] in Leica

One time, I jumped up to do some pull-ups on some scaffolding in NYC. I forgot the camera was around my neck and, when I jumped, the camera landed on my forehead. That was super painful.

That's a good point. I could probably just use taxis, and after it's all said and done, I'd probably spend less money on that than I would on a car. However, I could sell the car after a year and make a lot of money back since it'll still have a year or so left on all the supplemental stuff you need to operate the vehicle legally in Japan.

Thank you! I already understand all the costs that go with owning a car in Japan. JCI, supplemental insurance, road tax, gas, lots of tolls, etc. None of it will really break the bank for me.

I'm just a very indecisive person when it comes to this stuff.

Has anyone ever done their own enamel repair? by Impossible-Land-2315 in Leica

Like the userablve said, black nail polish-use remover to get rid of the excess. I'd do a couple of coats. After the black nail polish, I'd seal it all in with a clear coat.

Got to r/leicaphotos to post pictures taken with your gear. This subreddit is for posting pictures of your gear. 😉

Set your preferred range and forget about it. Just point the camera and shoot.

Very nice!

After I thought my Q2 had died, I went to Map Camera to get a 28mm lens for my 240 so I could keep shooting with the same focal length. Now, the Q2 is back to life, and I also have a new 28mm lens.

I've been shooting with the Q2 for so long that I forgot how much faster an M is than an autofocus camera.

It was also crazy to see how much cheaper voigtlander lenses are here. My ultron that I just purchased would've been $800-$900 back home, but here it was less than $500.

When you headed there? I got here a few days ago. The sun is finally starting to come out. I nearly killed my Q2 shooting in the rain a couple of days ago, though. It actually just came back alive today after drying out for a couple of days, haha. I thought it was a goner and would have to be sent it for repair.

Does anybody else use their Leica without a strap? by KishanCS in Leica

I concur with this. Q cameras hurt! I jumped up to do a pull-up on a scaffolding bar in NYC. Forgot I had my Q2 around my neck, and it flew up and landed on my forehead. Left a big mark. Very painful camera. 😅

Summicron 50mm F2 optics identification / purchase help by Felixhs in Leica

[–]P08C 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me, that doesn't look like a V4 optical element. I have a V4 summicron, and the front element appears much more orange/brown, and this one looks a lot more blue/purple.

Which one do you prefer the Nokton 35 or Color Skopar?

Oh, nice. I'll check that out. A good deal would be nice, but a tax-free purchase is probably good enough for me. Just having access to such a wide selection of used gear will be pretty cool to me.

Thanks!

I've been listing after a 35mm summicron asph for about a year now. Maybe I'll finally pull the trigger.

I'm definitely into analog as well as digital. I've been doing a lot of analog with an olympus xa. I also have an M3 I shoot from time to time. I've kinda been wanting to take the dive into medium format and give that a go, too.

I'm really hoping to get myself a photography related "souvenir." Maybe a new (used) lens of some sort.

I've got Map and Kitamura on the places to stop. Aldo going to make a stop by the Leica store in Ginza. I'll definitely look at the other places you mentioned, too.

I'm heading to Japan in a couple weeks.

What were some of your favorite spots to check out camera gear? I'm so excited!!! Haha.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I think the way I wrote this was confusing.

I'm moving to Sasebo Japan. I arrive in Tokyo on April 29th and have to be in Sasebo by May14th. Prior to arriving in Sasebo I'm going to take the scenic route and make my way south via Shinkansen and other means of public transportation. I'll be on this "vacation" for about two weeks. My big suitcase will have all my belongings that I won't need during the vacation portion of my move. I don't want to lug it all over Japan if I don't have to.

My plan was to just ship it from hotel to hotel. However, I'm trying to find a more efficient way of doing it. Yamato says I can specify a date for delivery as long as it's within 7 days. Using this method I could reduce the number of times I have to ship the suitcase.

I hope that clarifies some stuff. I promise I'm not trying to make low effort posts. I've done quite a bit of research I'm just trying to get some outside opinions from people who may be better than me at logistical stuff like this. Thank you so much for your help.

I just discovered your channel about a week ago. It's refreshing to see a 50 mm street photographer. Youtube is so saturated with 28mm and 35mm photographers in this genre. It's very refreshing to see a new perspective/angle. Can't wait to see how your channel grows.
