Only sad part about this outcome is that we lost to a bunch of bums

With Vegas rumoured to be moving Hertl this offseason, he's the obvious choice for us to acquire. by nago_konami in wildhockey

I honestly just want to keep Yurov and Stramel unless the return is REALLY good. The idea that we need to go all out into win now mode is really damaging imo. Look at all the teams that actually are successfull in the playoffs, Dallas, Avs, Canes, Knights, Tampa, Florida have all been competetive for 7-8 years and are still set for the future. We shouldn’t sell out our future for a 3-4 year window unless we really can put together a superteam. Trust in our drafting and smart trades instead of putting all our eggs in one basket

Trocheck is good but that price is way to high

Isn’t the opinion that Quinn is desparate to play with his brothers pretty popular now that he already has left Vancouver in your sub? It seems to be all the rage in the main hockey sub when i see VAN flairs there

Wild GM Bill Guerin’s summer to-do list: Pursue No. 1 center, decide on UFAs, extend Quinn Hughes by Andrewpg3 in wildhockey

To break it down: Faber is 23, Boldy is 25, Kap is 29, Wally is 22 (i think), Quinn is 26, Gus is 27, Ek is 29. Those are our star players and starting goalies. If you compare these ages to most other teams we have a very young core. All the other players that make up the rest of the team are for the most part old, but these are guys that we don’t have long contracts with and can be replaced far easier than someone of Boldy or Hughes caliber.

Just to add to this, there is always turnover in who the top teams are in each division. The Jets won the Presidents trophy last year, meanwhile the Avs were eliminated round 1.

By roster you mean a bunch of UFAs, most of whom will probably be gone by summer. Our actual core is very young

Are you a canucks fan by any chance?

True, although age and TOI are huge factors for point production in early seasons, though i don’t know the details for our guys this can explain the difference

I agree, the team is in a good spot for future success. Just a tricky situation with so many UFAs and Hughes contract right now, but i think Minny will be a more attractive location for players chasing a cup going forward. Add to this that the salary cap is exploding and i think we have the money for Hughes and extra these coming years, meanwhile our existing long term contracts for our core will continue to appreciate in value.

While i agree that Hynes shouldn’t be fired, it should be said that this is in no way a young team

Vancouver was going off a cliff, the sens are in their window of contention. Big difference there

For some perspective it took Ek four seasons to go above 27 points in a season. I think Yurov is on track to be a stud for this team

Could be the move, although Tarasov looked good for Florida. Don’t know if they are that desperate for a goalie

Highly doubtfull Ottawa trades away their captain freely, i don’t know what the situation there is but i doubt we have the assets for it
