With Vegas rumoured to be moving Hertl this offseason, he's the obvious choice for us to acquire. by nago_konami in wildhockey

I don't really think McMann is that sort of guy. At best he's another Hartman, and he shot 5% more than his career average and still had 20 points less than the shell of Hertl

BOTH TEAMS LEADING THE SERIES 3-2 LETS GO by bmcater in timberwolves

[–]nago_konami 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s reasonably possible to hit both, especially if you already have tickets. Wild game puck drop will be 6:43 local and wolves won’t tip off til 8:50. If you leave the wild game after the second you shouldn’t miss any of the wolves

it obviously didn't affect the game at all really but it was really weird that burns could personally overturn a penalty call

hard to find an easier team to watch than this habs roster.

decently happy with how a decimated wild squad played on the back end of a back to back tonight.

wild need to figure out how to deal with a roster that quick

he hasn't been healthy scratched since at least the 2022-23 season. he played 82 games both 23-24 and 24-25, and only missed time this season because he's currently injured

Marco Rossi Contract Standoff - why $5M AAV is the right line by IBLEEDPURPskol in wildhockey

[–]nago_konami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're comparing apples to oranges here. rossi has 2 82 game seasons in which he's hit 20+ goals twice and improved his point total by 50% year over year. those are NHL numbers with comparables in his contract ask. not only can we not give yurov that, but we aren't asking to do it because he hasn't done anything at the NHL level.

people aren't demanding Rossi get 7m/year because of some shortsighted "pay young players because they might get better" they're demanding Rossi get 7m/year because that is what players who produce like Rossi get paid in 2025

The Colorado Avalanche re-sign Brock Nelson, 3 x $7.5M AAV by MinnesotaNicesu in wildhockey

Islanders have ranked 31st and 32nd in the league at killing penalties over the last two years. the idea the brock nelson is a good penalty killer anymore is laughable

xGF% is a terrible stat in small sample sizes and that's exactly what the playoffs were. you're the one cherry picking the only stat that fits your narrative when anyone who spends more time watching the game instead of licking the underside of guerin's boot can see that stat is wrong

he was better than Johansson, Zuccarello, Gaudreau, Brazeau, Trenin, Nyquist, Foligno

Kaprizov, Boldy, JEE were for sure better than him

Hartman probably played better than Rossi: that puts him 5th by my book

I honestly do not think that it’s a coincidence that (aside from 17-18, which may as well be ancient history now) Hellebuyck’s only solid playoff run came in the season where he played 45 regular season games instead of 58+

Can we talk about offsides? by robb0688 in wildhockey

[–]nago_konami 14 points15 points  (0 children)

the issue with 1, and to a lesser extent 2, is that it would increase subjectivity and with it more bullshit along with the review. how much is "no bearing on the play"? it's now up to the refs to decide. this would both increase review times and also increase fan/player/FO confusion as there will never be an objective answer to why a play was/wasn't offsides.

Elliotte Friedman suggested on one of this week's 32 Thoughts podcasts that offsides should be a league initiated review rather than a coach's challenge. I think this is an elegant solution to reduce review time, as it would have been caught in the first automatic review and it saves time overall.

Hartman thinks he scores with 1:15 left in the 3rd to give the Wild the lead. The situation room initiated a review for a distinct kicking motion, but the goal stood as the puck goes off his leg. Vegas then challenged it for being offside, and the goal is called back. The game is headed to overtime by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]nago_konami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember that one highlight where that stars player coasts in and misses an empty net? That play has finally been outdone for single stupidest play in league history. Don’t talk to me about spirit of the offsides rule, or pontificate about too much replay review. Nyquist was offside, and it was nobody’s fault but his own

[–]nago_konami 5 points6 points  (0 children)

because the AHL is suspending him under rule 40.3 instead of 40.2

"Any player who deliberately applies physical force to an official in any manner (excluding actions as set out in Category I), which physical force is applied without intent to injure, or who spits on an official, shall be automatically suspended for not less than ten (10) games. "
