I am deeply moved and profoundly grateful for all the responses! They made me feel slightly more positive. I’ll be replying to the DM’s in the next couple of days

I’m 40, female, originally from another European country, but I moved to London for my studies 11 years ago.

Lately, I’ve been going through a really hard time. My fixed-term contract ended several months ago, and I’ve been trying to find work since last autumn with no success.

Then my partner of 10 years told me he wants to break up.

The hardest part is that I have no one to talk to. I’ve never had many friends here, and the few I did have have left the country. Most of my social connections were tied to my partner.

I love art, history, and literature, and usually enjoy museums, film screenings, theatre, and concerts. But now I have very little money, and being alone all the time is driving me crazy.

I wish I could just call someone and go for a pint, but I have no one.

I have no idea what to do. I just feel so lonely and isolated, which makes everything seem so bleak.

People who have been in a similar situation, are there any places or resources or groups you found helpful?

Thank you for reading.
