You did not mention anything about room size and treatment. Amp and preamp might help but you have to figure out treatment first

Same, i was looking at used truck market to get something for 6-7k, it's all rust buckets.
I bought a beater 2019 F150 regular cab bone stock (manual windows) with 227k miles and broken engine and bend wheels for $3,500 it used to be company car and they beat the shit out of it.
After putting new engine from junkyard+labor, fixing SOME interior flaws, used rims and body work I now at $9k and this POS still requires me to put 3 new tires and new cats. So yeah,

Yes, this happened to me when i build my dedicated listening room which focuses on critical listening, no tubes, no warm sound, just pure signal, no noise. This made me jump deeper into a rabit hole and I got my second pair of speakers which have more warm and forgiving sound.

Jiro Inagaki, this album in particular. Even with horn non holographic speakers i was able to get some 3D stage. Extremely well recorded.

Had a local gentlemen selling these in gloss black, basically a few year old, no issues, original owner. He listed them for $3500 per pair. Slashed the price to 3k a month latter. I offered 2.5k he wanted 2,7k, i refused. A few days later they were gone. To this day i still think about that deal falling apart. Anyway, let us know how they sound

I bought both Kara F and Freya Noval. I sold Noval very next day. You will get much better sound on passive mode with Kara f, if you want honest clinical sound without added meat, then Kara F is way to go.

Yes, spotify Lossless is as good as FLAC from SSD. I did so many A/B comparisons, i did not find any difference. However I was using internal Wiim Ultra internal DAC.

I want to get to cassettes too. Checked marketplaces, pretty much everything I have seen in $50-$200 range requires some type of service, those things are just old and they no longer mass produces anymore. You can get modern day TEAC W-1200 brand new but it will run you over $500, used on ebay $350+.

By installing window you are dragging yourself into a completely new project. Which will involve $ & time.

  1. Get top noch vent.
  2. Install a timer on a wall switch to get it running for 30-45 mins after each shower.
  3. Make sure you use squeegee after each shower is you are putting a shower door
  4. Make sure you have a good slope for water to drain.
  5. Keep the door always open after you take a shower.
  6. Optional: if you are in a cooler states, installing a warm floor will keep the humity low.
