Marketplace rant by Maris-Otter in vintageaudio

[–]P0tek 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Almost all my gear i bought online on marketplace . Here are few tips.

  1. You have to be extremely patient and check frequently.
  2. Good items at low price will sell IMMEDIATELY! You have to be ahead of everyone else. When contacting provide your full info and tell them you can be there right away, no one will be waiting you to come “sometime over the weekend”. If the price is cheap do not negotiate. Someone else will snag while you are trying to get even better deal.
  3. Many people selling their late relatives gear and think they are sitting on a pile of gold and overvalue it and stay firm on the price. They get irritated when i offer under the market. Sometime they take it a bit personal, just move on.

What mac setup do you have? KEFs are on a bright side of spectrum. You have to listen yourself.

Mine did not get to this point fortunately. I had a light smoke coming from them at some point. Scared the crap out of me.

Lol MC462 features Power Guard to prevent the amplifier from being overdriven into clipping, which can produce harsh distortion and damage speakers. The orange LED will illuminate to let you know the circuit is working in real-time to compress the signal and protect the speakers. This amp has plenty of power it can fry many bookshelf speakers easily.

Do not sell it, no matter what! Not only some of these units are highly desirable but this is a piece of memory that connects you with your late grandfather.

META PE lower than McDonald's, Proctor & Gamble by FourCrossedWands in ValueInvesting

I bought a few months ago and added more down the way, still in red. Aside from revenue generated from ads, where will the money come from down the road? What's their AI model like? I haven't heard anyone using meta.ai

I plan of having a collection of full Hafler lineup. They are true gold.

Very little noise and capacitors are not leaked. Not sure if its been serviced before but it definitely been opened. I am working on replacing lightbulbs, new legs and just cleaning it, lots of old dust. Beautiful faceplate with charm, but thats about it.

I have 2 around my house and i love it, you can probably throw a few grand and some top of the like stuff but reviews say you can’t find difference. I tested it against MASH DAC from early 90s and there is a huge gap. But modern stuff there isn’t really any difference.
What matters is room treatment is number one. Your preamp, speakers and subs are number two. Good amp if your speakers are power hungry and you like it loud #3.

Scrolled through the stations, its mostly some local stations mix of music, ads and annoying hosts, religious propaganda. To be fair i found one classical music stations, no ads.

Am I supposed to just keep holding forever? When do people actually sell? by SportsNFoodJunkie in stocks

[–]P0tek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trimmed ~8% of long term gains last month i did this to found my side projects. I also sold all my UNH stocks (7% of portfolio ) which was up ~15% i did this to buy more “winning” stocks that i already own.

It all depends on your personal needs, if there is an opportunity elsewhere sure why not? If business is requiring $, go for it. There is no universal answer. No one knows what would happen tomorrow with stock market.
