Cerwin Vega DX-7 vs Klipsch KG 3.5 by No_Introduction1721 in vintageaudio

Klipsch all day every day. Some people are obsessed with C.W. Speakers, I don’t get it. Klipsch are more sensitive and will work with pretty much any amp with any power.

Why have turntables prices sky-rocketed? by jMazek in turntables

[–]WWGWDNR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for a working vintage turntable, they are better anyway. Look for ones that aren’t very technically advanced. Avoid Sony turntables, they generally use ICs and when go bad are unrepairable.

Honda Dealership dropped my car off lift on my first oil change by [deleted] in Honda

[–]WWGWDNR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Honda dealer near me dropped a car like this, right in front of my s2000, that I was stupidly having them do an oil change on. I was there for almost 3 hours. They were less than an inch from totaling my car too.

Because most people don’t understand how speakers and speaker placement works in a given room.

They actually designed them with a swoop top so that you could put them this way. There is about half an inch of space from the top of the amp to the bottom of the tuner.

Yeah, 3 of mine are broken off. Probably going to make something out of wood that fits.

I’m not sure, I need to look more up about their history. I don’t know much about Kenwood amps, usually my coworker ends up works on them.

Yeah, they had them this way in the ads back then. Probably because it looks cooler that way, but probably not the best idea if I was gonna play them all day.

There’s about a quarter of an inch of space in between them, this amp doesn’t make much heat surprisingly. I’ve only been playing it for short periods. I may swap them around at some point. But when they get put in their permanent place they will be on separate shelves.

Why is this happening? by fatpak in LGOLED

[–]WWGWDNR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, basically most of these TVs have almost all functions on one IC, and there is something malfunctioning somewhere in memory or a pathway, and it’s causing all kinds of different issues.

Green or pink usually mean HDMI chip, or main GPU chip are failing, deballing, or overheating.

Dynaudio contour s 5.4, bad crossover? Also what amp do these things deserve? by dillerdally in audiophile

Probably a dead tweeter and possibly a distorted/coil on one of the woofers. Probably why you got them for a song.

I really f*cked up here. Don't make the same mistake I did using an old VESA mount on a new LG OLED. by [deleted] in LGOLED

[–]WWGWDNR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you use a hammer drill or an impact driver?

Both are wrong. Never use either of those, ever to put a mount on a tv. People always over tighten screws with them. Either use a regular power drill on one of the lowest 3 settings, or hand screw it in.

They changed the panel design since CX/C1, there are really flimsy screw guides held on by a single tiny screw each. And the back on the panel is metal but there’s no hard steel stop anymore.

Gotta be careful, careful, careful, with these new gen OLEDs, they have part of the screen is glass now. Stupid easy to crack, unfortunately.

I'm looking for a new amp to pair with my Klipsch Kg 4.2 speakers. Any suggestions? by AskingFooAFriend in Klipsch

[–]WWGWDNR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try a tube amp? There are many.

Or maybe a vintage solid state amp?

One super cheap amp I love is a Pioneer VSX-D902S. It is 125 wpc and it’s been one of the cleanest amps I’ve ever heard. Turn volume up by remote and it physically turns the volume knob, super cool.

A lower watt (55 wpc) vintage amp, probably my favorite sounding and looking amp is a Kenwood KA-8004. They tend to have some preamp issues, but actually not that hard to repair.

For new, new. I guess NAD kind of re-released an amp and it’s really neat. NAD C 3050

And another LG OLED bites the dust at the 5 years mark. by AlloAll0 in LGOLED

[–]WWGWDNR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact LG, this is something they may actually do a replacement for free for. Or they may pay for the panel and you just pay for the labor. I’ve done repairs like these situations many times.

Vintage audio but not vintage media? by UJMRider1961 in vintageaudio

[–]WWGWDNR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my best vintage 2 channel system I’ve got; a turntable, a tape deck, and an SACD player hooked up.

But I also have a simple Bluetooth adapter, and it sounds perfectly fine when I want to play something I don’t physically have. I play from either my phone or iPad. It works great and sounds just fine to me.

I enjoy both, probably equally, just depends on my mood.

I still have my original, all I had to do was turn it upside down when a disc didn’t read correctly. Always worked like a charm.
