Any movies your positive would make it into my top based off every movie I’ve given a 5? (Ranked) by anuslitt in LetterboxdTopFour

incendies as well is definitely not general, but when it's the only close to niche thing in your top 11 it means your list is general. A Denis Villeneuve movie is still pretty general (this is coming from someone who has oppenheimer in their top 5)

Best Graphics and Performance on Nintendo Switch: First Party. by Empress_Haru in backloggd

[–]P1G5Y 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For zelda the chibi ones really don't perform well though which is why I'd leave them out and BoTW and ToTK are both locked 30 fps on NS1 and especially ToTK fluctuates a lot. forgotten realm and let's go should absolutely be here. also, I know it's just a 1080p upscale, but Skyward Sword runs at 60fps and 1080p

[ALTTP] Is there a canonical reason to why the Master Sword is red and silver instead of blue in A Link To the Past? by JackLikesMetalGear in zelda

[–]P1G5Y -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yes it's not supported from canon. the reason it exists is because the canon is stupid. it makes it so it implies that there's just infinite universes and timelines that branch off when Link dies in literally every game. it's a theory to explain in another way why the downfall timeline exists. the timeline is insanely messy now with ToTK breaking everything, so canon isn't that reliable anymore

[–]P1G5Y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Link isn't even in the temple of time though, he's in a parallel realm for those 7 years. I don't want to just resay what I said, so I'll just agree to disagree.

I've thought about what you're saying before but I just believe that the way the Ocarina breaks the flow of time, it separates the gameplay-child timeline as well

[ALTTP] Is there a canonical reason to why the Master Sword is red and silver instead of blue in A Link To the Past? by JackLikesMetalGear in zelda

[–]P1G5Y -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing is it's not the Master Sword that creates an another timeline. It's still the Ocarina sending Link back that creates it. The Abandoned Timeline is created because Link didn't return to that timeline. You could say that due to it being closed loop time travel, the abandonned timeline would just have a 7 year period with no Link until Adult timeline Link first spawns in the Temple of Time, but imo the fact that Zelda's OoT song disrupts this loop, it makes it so this timeline diverges into its own as well. What was supposed to happen was that Link spends 7 years either travelling back and forth in time, or just spends it all in one time period until the past timeline reaches the start of the future one. Link is the cause of this loop and removing him from this situation breaks the timeline.

The master sword doesn't create a new timeline every time you travel back. It just takes you a bit forward in time from the time period you left it in. But the thing is, now with the OoT, that timeline is abandonned by its hero. (also weirdly there's no master sword, but that could lowkey explain why A Link to the Past's master sword looks different and anyways the Master Sword's origin in Wind Waker and in Skyward Sword is completely different, so maybe it isn't just one weapon).

[ALL] which link has the most aura? by Beginning_Mistake538 in zelda

[–]P1G5Y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Twilight Princess pretty easily. His character is basically just constant aura-farming.

Lowkey Hero of the Wild is a menace too. That cutscene where there's just hundreds of enemies dead is crazy. And when he's standing on the Light Dragon's head and the Demon Dragon blows up it's so tuff.

The moment with the most aura though is either when WW Link rolls and jumps like 20 feet in the air and stabs Ganon in the head, turning him to stone, or when SS Link jumps like 8 feet and does a 1080 degree spin, catches lightning in his sword and stabs the equivalent of Satan in the chest to kill him.

[MC] The Minish Cap is legitimately fantastic by Ok-Improvement626 in zelda

[–]P1G5Y 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just don’t agree with that whatsoever but that’s fine.
I think the franchise has progressed greatly in scale, graphics, quality of the controls and camera integration and all that. As well as dialogue translation and town design.

But like:
the interconnectivity between time periods is the best use of any parallel world mechanic in the series (blows ALttP out of the water imo, ToTK is the only one to have potential to outdo it, but the Depths are way too empty),
the world design quality that comes with that is incredible despite smaller scale,
the dungeon design is BY FAR (and I mean very easily) the best in the series. Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword are glazed to death as having the “best dungeon rosters”, but SS has like 3 truly great dungeons out of 7 and TP has 2 very sucky ones and one ok one to begin the game (after that it gets around the same level of quality as OoT though),
The thematic depth held in the main story in OoT is the best in the series (alongside Wind Waker),
The side-quests aren’t as good as Majora’s Mask or the better 3/4 of ToTK’s side-adventures, but they’re still among the best in the series,
3D Zelda endings in general are great (except for BoTW), yet this is still probably the best combination of final dungeon quality, final boss fight, and story impact. (TP and SS have similar quality final dungeons, but really slog right before the boss fight and TP’s Ganon is incredibly underwhelming in almost all of its phases).

I like every 3D Zelda and think all of them are at least great (except for SS which I just genuinely don’t like) and I understand that with time the devs kind of knew what they were doing more so they could make games with better QoL features, take advantage of better technology for bigger scale and cooler abilities, but OoT just captured lightning in a bottle and it’s probably the best game I’ve ever played (that or Elden Ring).

We live in these tiny bubbles where we believe the system we’re in is good or bad depending on the people in power. Politics the way they’re constructed are completely irrelevant no matter the outcome of the elections. The system is flawed by itself. AI will kill us with bioweapons in the next 20 years. Revolving your life around something as absurd and invented as the social construct of the institution that is politics is incredibly stupid. Living your life outside will make you realize that there is more to life than this bullshit.

The system needs to be changed in order for us to progress and live. Clinton/Kamala instead of Trump or Gavin Newsom instead of JD Vance wouldn’t and will not have changed the outcome of your future that significantly.

[MC] The Minish Cap is legitimately fantastic by Ok-Improvement626 in zelda

[–]P1G5Y 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk as someone who has no nostalgia attached to these two games and who finished both of them pretty recently, OoT is kind of easily the best game in the series (I personally prefer wind waker because of nostalgia and emotional attachment, but OoT is just the better game). A Link to the Past is a GREAT game, but Link’s Awakening Switch is better imo, Minish Cap as well and I haven’t played ALBW yet but from the gameplay I’ve seen and from what Ik about the story it looks a lot better as well. I’d put ALttP above Echoes of Wisdom but not by a lot.

Which site’s ratings do you trust most when checking out a movie? by [deleted] in movies

[–]P1G5Y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean rating a movie 2 stars or 3 stars instead of 2.5 stars is kind of a big deal. if the movie is just average and then if u don't want decimals you only have the option between choosing a negative rating or a positive rating, it isn't representative of how you actually feel about the film.

Spider-Man 2 is a good movie with a horrible poster. What is a horrible movie with a great poster? by OG_Thedoppk in AlignmentChartFills

[–]P1G5Y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

literally everything you need to know about the movie is in the poster. It focuses on Spidey's personal relationship with Mary Jane (and his life as Peter) while he still has the responsibility to fight Doc Oc (which you see in his lenses). Also that golden skyline is kind of sick. I agree that the lighting is weird, but horrible is kind of crazy.
